    Question Power Steering Pump

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 04 3.0 and it seems that I will need to replace my power steering pump but I would like to know if there is a rebuild kit? I'm not opposed to buying new and simply replacing it but if if I have the option to rebuild it, I would.

Are you sure it's the pump and not the common air leak?

Did you read the thread that was just linked? It gives you details on where to get the rebuild kit. Also, I know you said that you know it is the pump, but you provided no details about how you know, so how should anyone else know that it is the

The kit says that it's for a 1994-1998 steering pump. They don't seem to have a kit for anything after 2002 and I followed the noise fix and etc. and none of them fixed it. I also had someone who is a respected mechanic tell me it was the pump

Maybe re-read the thread around the link to the rebuild kit?

Come on now, you know that people don't like looking for their own data.

Either way, RockAuto has New and Reman pumps between $100-$250. Since this is such a cheap part, I don't even think its worth trying to fix. Not when you factor in all of the time and risk of improper seal installation (causing more leaks/down time). I personally would grab a Reman unit (likely the AC Delco) and then call it a day.

I have a spare that was kind of "iffy" performance. After reading that write up it does not look too complex so if i get bored this winter I may pull it apart just to have a look see.
