    Tire pressure reduction in RS5

Ok, so the RS5 tire pressure is supposed to be 44F 41R - I don't know if it's my pressure gauge or what, but whenever I put air in the tires and fill them to capacity, I'm consistently losing pressure within a weeks time. I'm typically going from 44 to 40 in the front, and 41 to 37 rear. I should also point out that I have two sets of OEM wheels and tires and this happens regardless of whether I'm running snows (19" OEM with Dunlop Winter Sport), or summers (OEM 20" with Pirelli P-zero).
I know tire pressure is dependent on numerous factors like weather, but this seems to happen regardless of temperature and I don't love the idea of running to the gas station for air every week.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

    Tire pressure reduction in RS5

Only thing I can think of if it is all tires and both sets of wheels is that you are driving to a gas station to use their air. Even in a short drive the tires heat up and your pressure readings at the gas station will be a few PSI higher than actual "at rest, cold" pressure.

Yes - so to deal with that I'm parking the car during the day in a lot that's just a block away from a gas station, so I'm only traveling a very short distance to get air, and I'm also re-checking pressure at the station before filling the tires.

Temperature fluctuation causes tire pressure changes. Are the outside temperatures drastically different on the days you're checking your tire pressure?

No - so far the NY winter has been almost non-existent, and the weather has been unseasonably warm (55-70), so there hasn't been any really serious variance in the weather so far, save for one or two colder days.

Mix some dish soap and water and squirt it around the tire where it sits in the rim and around the valve just to check if you're losing air through the bead.

It might drop a little lower, but generally stays in that range.

winter temp will have drastic affect on tire pressure. For every 10*F change in air temp, tire pressure will change by 2%.

I assume that you're checking at the garage as well before you drive? Any variance between the two? Even a mile or two can heat up the tires enough to account for a couple of PSI. It's very strange because you've got a consistent issue across 8 wheels / tires.

Hi, yes, I am definitely checking at the garage and then again at the gas station before and after (obviously) inflation. Maybe I should just get a decent tire inflator so I don't have to keep running to the gas station - anyone know of a decent one?

Other than temperature fluctuations, sounds like you have a leak or improperly mounted tires. Have you checked your rims recently to make sure they are round? I lose about 1 psi per 2 weeks even if I go hard driving in the canyons.

Yes - had rims checked so we are good there. I think this will remain a mystery. I'm going to purchase a good tire inflator or compressor, or whatever they're called.

And get a good digital tire gauge. I have my own compressor, too. I check my tire pressure every other Saturday morning in my garage, before moving the car a single inch. That way everything cooled down over night and I always check it at about the same temperature. Here in NorCal, we don't have big temperature swings, so that works here, but in NYC you should leave the car outside for a bit and then check.

If you like the compressor you use can you pass along the name? Thanks

This one is what I'm using now. I just got it recently. My previous one died unannounced a few months ago. I like this one. It's very quick and easy to store away. The RS5 also comes with its own compressor in the trunk, but I don't know for how many cycles it is rated, so I keep it just for emergencies. Haven't had to use it so far.
