We finally have the details for the new Audi A4. This week Audi of America released the 2017 Audi A4 Order Guide. The orders have not started yet but they will shortly and deliveries will be starting in April. The fifth generation of the Audi A4 is more powerful, more efficient, more intelligent: the new Audi A4 features numerous premium technologies which set higher benchmarks for their class. Some of the comments on that link suggest that the b9 will not offer a manual transmission. Can anyone confirm this?


Edit:This link suggests six speed manual will be made eventually.

And in other news, it turns out the S4 B9 will NOT be offered in manual at all!

A tad disappointed...no sports diff? I would have thought it would have filtered down from the S4. It kinda is a deal breaker for me...I actually would have preferred the new 2.0T vs going up to the 3.0T this go round

It shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Your S4 has the sport diff, but its also heavier with a lot more weight up front. If you switch to a B9 2.0T, its lighter and the weight is better distributed, so even without a sport diff it will likely have less under steer and handle better overall.

I knew it... and I hate it.

I noticed this from the RPM gauge dial in the very first test mule pics.

WOW, possible no manual transmission and the STUPID start-stop system that made me dump my BMW convertible..... can't put into words how disappointed I am.
Simply not the Audi I've grown up with and loved. Looks like my 2014 A4 might be my last Audi.

Looking at the order guide, premium plus w/ tech package would be perfect. Hud, lighting and top view camera in prestige is not really a big deal.

The list of standard features is quite impressive and a bit surprising given its the first model year for the US market. Not much left off. I am certain this is a VERY important and crucial launch for Audi in the NA. Perhaps given the delay of this release as well as the emissions scandal is why Audi is being so generous with standard equipment. Wondering what the pricing is going to be as well.

I agree, not a fan of the auto start stop. I understand the concept and benefits but have found it personally annoying in the vehicles I've driven with it. Also thinking it will be wise to wait out this first model year. Not sure how extensive the testing has been on these cars. We all know what happened especially with the B8 release in 2009.

I thought I read somewhere the manual option might only be on the FWD version. At least it's S Tronic not Multitronic (CVT).

My personal plan is to hold onto my B8 for at least a couple more years or so. Less than a year to go before I finally pay it off. (Started off as a lease the first year, then I refied it as a purchase through my credit union). Miles are super low, condition is amazing. Its a manual with hydraulic steering. The car is extremely efficient for my needs and tastefully modded. Puts a smile on my face each time I drive it. Only wish I had gotten an S4 - more power - no turbo lag. Not to say I can't wait to test drive one of these A4 B9s as well as the B9 S4s.

Not impressed by the color choices, well the lack of a bright blue color. So many of the pictures of the A4 and S4 show Sepang blue, but it is missing from this order sheet. Not sure if I would go with an Audi Exclusive color for the price.

I hear plenty complain about the start / stop. I have not experienced it yet, so I don't have any input. As far as diesel options. You can not buy a TDI in the US at this time, VW or Audi. So I'm sure they are holding off on announcing anything TDI related till this is all figured out.

Im sure they'll integrate a disabler for the auto engine start/stop. I know the A6 TDI I drove had it and I loved it. Saved on gas but sucked when it was hot out and the A/C was on. It would turn the engine back on if the temp dropped below the auto setting. Besides that it was pretty nice to have. On the other hand, my wife disabled it whenever she drove it because it annoyed her.

And the 2.0TDi option was there yesterday. Unfortunately, it was only on for a bit. I guess they were still building the page. From what I saw it was FWD with the 7 Speed DSG. I was really hoping for a Quattro TDi option at launch so I might hold off as well.

I haven't had the time to try it on mine yet but on the C7 you can reverse the function of the s/s-button. Normally you have to press it to deactivate it but if you turn the car completely off and start it up again you have to press the button again to deactivate it. But if you reverse the button with VCDS you have to press the button to activate start/stop. That will most likely work on the B9 also.

Was going to post...pretty sure you see enthusiasts driving B8 Avants more then B8.5 Allroads which are usually driven by middle aged women.

HOWEVER, enthusiasts are taking Allroads and making them look like fender flared Avants. So really it's a win win for Audi...

Yes, I think only the original Allroads were A6 platformed (mind you I saw they have a A6 allroad in Europe), the B8 obviously was the first 'A4' shared platform. I know for sure it's a B9 Allroad, at least that's what they said at the Detroit auto show this week...
