EPL Stage 2 E85 beta 1/8th mile track results

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Went out to run the 1/8th mile yesterday at Texas Raceway in Kennedale, TX with the latest EPL E85 beta version.

    Best time was 7.640 @ 91.33

    DA +1464'

    2012 S4 DSG
EPL Stage 2 E85 Beta ECU tune
    APR TCU tune
    Upgraded Autotech HPFP
    Roc-Euro Intake
18x8 ET 35 Advanti Hybris 19.5 lbs each
    Pirelli P6 All season tires (32psi F 35psi R)
    4500 RPM launch
Zeitronix Ethanol analyzer was showing E82

I ran the APR TCU tune for 2 reasons. 1. My previous best was with APR ECU/TCU combo on the 104 file running 70% E85 and 30% MS109 so I wanted to compare just the ECU tune difference. 2. Tony is swamped and has not had time to write a solution for my DSG launch control issue. (I'm well over 200 launches). Surprisingly this is the first time at the track with the APR TCU tune that it did not hang up on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts by bouncing of the rev limiter. 6 passes without issue. It played very nicely with the EPL ECU tune.

The E85 beta is coming close to being done. We might be able to get a little more out of it. Also working thru a random code for low pressure fuel regulation. Its never caused any issues and fuel pressures are always fine, the ECU is just seeing different variations due to the larger fuel requirements of ethanol. Almost there..

I am not compensated in any way by EPL. I paid full price for the tune, software and cable, in fact a whole lot more than the latest group buy. lol

Pretty solid, glad to see some times. So you should be in the 11's once it's all dialed in I imagin?

I read another thread that pointed to the APR shifting issue being more associated to the ECU tune than the TCU tune

From what I have read and observed one can multiply 1/8th by 1.55 to arrive at approximate 1/4 mile time. In this case 11.842

So is it safe to assume that the E85 tune would be like running the Race file versions of GIAC or APR but at $1.50 a gallon? Lol

    I just use this method:

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...r-fuel-station

But here in DFW just buy from Kroger. Always the highest ethanol content. 80-90% consistently.

If you are almost completely empty I'd put about 4 gallons of E85 in and that will put you (conservatively) about 30%.

No kidding, but that is a really impressive time for Kennendale. It's a very slow track I hardly see anything run to its full potential.

Made it back out to the track today. Added the JHM overdrive crank pulley this week. All other mods are the same as my first post. (Unless you want to count a new RS4 grille)

Tony was nice enough to get me a file together on short notice this week.

Best pass from today. Double Pulley, Full E85 (Showing E75 on Zeitronix)

    7.485 @ 92.19
    DA Was about 700'
Track prep was just awful. They had a 2 day no prep event all weekend and just didn't bother prepping today either, despite advertising as a prepped event. Could not use launch control due to shitty track prep.

ECU started bypassing about 5500 RPM and topped out at 21% at redline.

I'm certain it has more in it. Hopefully the weather will be good and I can get back out next Sunday.

Thanks Tony @ EPL, as well as APR and JHM.

There's a 1/4 mile event coming up soon about 3 hours away. Maybe then! Stuck with 1/8th mile for now. Really need a CPS by then to have any chance at a record. IAT climbed really fast. Started at 51C and climbed to 72C. :o

Great time andthen!!! You really need to start getting ahold of me when you go to the track, I'd be out there in a heartbeat.

Comparing your current time slip to the 1/4 mile board it would probably translate to around an 11.6. It will be great if Tony can work out a tune to keep that bypass valve closed a little longer!
