    1.8t Rebuild Questions

Hi all, I'm rebuilding my 1.8 because I threw a rod at 210k. I've been doing a lot of research on different builds and I'm interested in getting a 2.0 Stroker kit with forged internals. My car is currently set up with a F21L Frankenturbo, 550cc injectors, and a eurodyne tune. I know I'd be fine with a stock rebuild, but I want to do it for piece of mind and for down the road. What I want to know is will the new 2.0 displacement require modifications to my tune or will I be able to run everything as it was. I also wouldn't mind running just upgraded internals with a stock displacement if there are any major red flags about the 2.0 Stroker kits. I know it's going to cost me, but I am prepared for that. I'm open to any reasonable suggestions.

Sorry to hear this but I had to mention that every rod being thrown/motor blowing has had a Eurodyne/homebrew tune lately. I suggest when you rebuild pay for a qualitly tune from a professional. Well worth the cash.

The 2.0 displacement will not effect your tune but the reason you threw a rod was most likely due to detonation. Best to figure out why this happened before risking your new block to the same fate.

Thanks for the input. I intend to look more into it when I tear the old block apart. This was a spontaneous event. There were no engine noises/warnings leading up it. However I question that it was because I might have been running too lean and too high of boost.

There are many who can tune your car on this site. I have a b5 and had my car tuned by a b6 member. Driving on 5th revision till this day. Some charge, some do it it free off of pure enthusiasm (mine was free).
I hate it when my car acts like a little bitch, treating me like a bitch
