Car dented by another parked car without me knowing

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I found out a day ago someone dented my car while I was parked in the parking lot (minor to small dent only noticeable until you walk up to it) . I know this was eventually bound to happen since I live in Socal and my S3 is my daily driver, but deep down inside I was pissed off and upset since the driver didn't leave a note or anything. Just wondering how you guys avoid situations like this from happening, parking far away from other cars (funny thing is, when I do park far away from other cars, there would be one car that is parked right next to me even though there are plenty of other parking spots around )? Avoiding crowded parking spaces, etc. Is this normally the case in SoCal or maybe other states? IDK, just felt like venting out since the car was in perfect condition until now.

That is totally irritating. I just found some scratches on the roof of my car??? I think someone may have set something on my roof. Anyway, I think it is an impossible battle. Park in the back of the lots is probably the best way to reduce the number of people that will park next to you. But in Southern California, it seems the lots are never big enough.

One day my wife and I were parked and some lady pulled up with her SUV right next to us, really close. Just as my wife was about to step out, the child in the next vehicle slammed the door opened which put a huge dent into our door, the child attempting to get out slammed the door a second time thinking it was jammed or something.
the owner of the SUV saw what happened and apologized and shrugged it off as if nothing happened, got into her vehicle and simply drove off. We got her licence plate and reported the incident to the police which got us nothing but a dinged up door.

So now I usually park further away from the rest of the cattle or find a corner spot and park on the line to provide a larger gap. For those that tend to park next me when there are plenty of spots readily available, if its a nice vehicle I'd let it go but there have been times whereby some douche would park his beat up car or old trunk next to me so I simply take a key to the quarter panel or leave a note. However for personal safety I'd recommend the note route - .

Call me a *dick* but I have had my fair share of door dings and little patience by those that have little disregard for other people's shit when its intentional.

I always equip my expensive cars with a video camera system which records 360 degrees around the car 24/7. Looks like a radar detector. Catch the cowards in the act. Bring the recording to the police and they will hand deliver them the Hit and Run Ticket (Depending on the damage and varies by state). The look on their face when they get caught is.... PRICELESS. There are many types of these recorders out there under $300. They also record sound, GPS coordinates on a map, G Forces, Speed, and much more. I always had one going in my Vipers. Also keeps the Police honest.

I've had 2 people hit my car and drive away. It amazes me how idiotic some people can be. Ever since I got my S3 you won't see me parking anywhere near anybody else. I don't take up 2 spots but I make sure i'm as far away as possible from other cars. I'll take the extra 2 minutes of walking over a dinged door any day.

Sounds interesting. I'll just have to be more cautious and park far far away and avoid the crazy Christmas shoppers driving around like idiots.

There are asshats everywhere who ether do not care about your nice car or are just jealous/envious and want to inflict some pain on you for having a nicer can than their car. Despite some asshats parking on top of my car, to the point I have had to crawl over the console to get to the driver's seat, I have never and would never damage someone's car. If I caught someone "keying" a car I would call the cops and the use the force necessary to keep you there until the cops arrived. That is thug behavior.

so i parked at costco using my spare car one day. when i locked my car, and while still standing right next to it, an old guy puts his foot on my bumper and tied his shoe. I asked why is he not using his own car to do that? his car was parked right in front of mine. i was like wtf guy! he didn't even bat an eye and continued to finish his shoe tying. people are pretty rude and inconsiderate.

wouldn't I get into trouble if I actually damaged his car on purpose? cause that's what I was worried about.

Thankfully I have not had this happen yet and Lord knows I've parked my car in a lot of risky spots where when I would return and I see some bloke has parked their car extremely close to my car.

I have noticed scratches on my car hood and sunroof, and seen a tiny spec chip on the hood and now driver door. These are the results of the road...likely highway driving and in the grand scheme of things it's nothing I can do about it to prevent this as it is my daily driver.

If I come out and there is a door ding that lines up to the door of he car next to me, I will not hesitate to kick in the center of their door. Best thing is to park at the end, park next to handicap spots, park mext to cars that appear to be their for a while, park next to other audis or just park far away.
