Is this hose suppose to look like this?

I came back from lunch just now to check the engine bay and found this hose shown in the pic. Is it ripped or suppose to be like that?

Also it's an 02 A4 1.8TQ

SAI pump to EGR valve hose/pipe. Replace it.

That being said its not critical t the cars performance if you don't replace it immediately

edit: nevermind. for $10 I'd just get that hose.

Go with 034. Silicone hose will last much longer.

I was looking at silicone vs rubber hoses, and I might give 034 a whirl.

rip it out like a still beating heart from a sacrificial virgin. along with a lot of other stuff in the bay. look for a diy here 'engine bay delete' or something similar
