All depends on packages, how long you want to keep the car and what you are looking for from the car. Are you looking for just a temporary car for about a year or two?
If that is the case and the 06 has documented maintenance and optional packages that you want, go for it.
I personally look for low mileage cars rather than year of manufacture. These cars are more than 10 years old now, so being an 06 or 08 doesn't matter for the resale value in 2 more years. When its time to sell the car, people will look at the mileage not the year, that is two years down the line.
FWIW, I bought my 05.5 non s-line with 70k miles for $10k about a year and half ago without any maintenance history. Just because I wanted very specific color and low miles. Its just me, but I would certainly look for all the packages that you want (need). Along with heavy DIY maintenance, I have retrofitted memory seats, auto dim rear view and wing mirrors, bixenons, DRLs, CH/LH. Soon will retrofit bluetooth and navigation. I do not plan on keeping the car for more than 150k miles and I know all the maintenance and retrofits I added won't give any added values when it re-sell time. So, buy the one with the packages you want already present in the car. Retrofitting them is painful and expensive.
If you are not particular about color and packages, there are deals to be had for sure but make sure you know what you want from the car and buy accordingly. I would not buy a car without memory seats, heated seats, bixenons and auto dim mirrors. Never thought that would be a problem till I bought my B7 without them. Wife and I swap cars all the time and getting the seat position right drives us both crazy. All my other cars had memory seats and autodim mirrors, so B7 had to have one too.
PS: Read more about cam follower and get it checked. And being in FL, you might not need quattro. If its not quattro then look for other makes. Not much different than a jetta or passat if its not a quattro. :)
