    DSG Questions (Mechatronics Repair & Year-Year Changes)

    I apologize as I know some of this (if not all) has been covered elsewhere, I searched but wasn't able to find all the answers so I will just lay out all the questions below:

    *Has there been any changes to the DSG from year to year throughout the B8-8.5 lifecycle?

    *Is the DSG mechatronics / circuit board issue that comes up the same issue? It appears to be but some refer to it as a mechatronics unit and some a circuit board, I assume it is and that the mechatronics unit is a circuit board w/ valves to control the DSG fluid flow.

    *Is there a DIY / General guideline of this repair (using the repair parts from ECS Tuning)?

    *Has any one got a quote for the entire DSG unit? (aka a new transmission)

    *Is there a OEM service manual available for these cars (admittedly I didn't search on this one)

    the b8.5 units are supposed to be a bit more reliable, but in reality, the failure %'s are still quite low on all of them. Of course, tell that to the folks that had bad failures out of warranty.

    The 2010's had the most issues.

    its not something most backyard mechanics would want to tackle.

    A new tranny is 5 figures with install. ouch.

    its very important that the dsg fluid and filters be serviced at least to factory specs, probably smart to do it even sooner.
