B7 S4 Whining from back of my car??

So my car is currently at 105xxx KM and i just replaced the fuel pump with an oem, and for some odd reason the is a whining noise coming from where my fuel pump is. So my question would be is there a specific way to install the fuel pump or could there be some other problem I'm not aware of?

I just did me fuel pump replacement and had a hell of a time getting the pump twisted onto the frame, until i realized it only fits one way, with the filter bag pointing in the direction of the right back passenger door. Once that was in properly, the cover and lock rung was straight forward. No noise from mine, so it might be worth checking the pump install again. Good luck.

Are we talking loud whining or the normal whining you never notice unless you are listening for it? Did you change the filter when u did the pump?

Either way it doesnt sit right or your filter needs replacement. If you did new pump i would change fuel filter anyways.

I dont know why you needed to replace the pump, but it is possible that the filter is clogged and that is what caused the pump to fail initially. When you change the pump, it is always a good idea to change the filter. A clogged filter could cause the pump to work extra hard and make it sound like a dying cat. You may have just got a bad pump as well. Try to take the pump out and reinstall it. Make sure it is installed correctly. I cannot think of anything else it could be other then the filter or pump. just my .02

i'd change the filter ASAP , it's relatively cheap compared to replacing a pump

I'd suggest locating your filter to see if yours is a 4 line or 3 line variant , then buying the right one

it's right in front of the rear passenger side tire , you can't miss it

yup i found a lot of different information on what filters the cars have. In the end, its right near the rear passenger tire and it takes like 20 seconds to see what one is in there. Better to just look and not have to return a filter.

    This!

It should be required that whenever the fuel pump is replaced that the fuel filter is also replaced. Actually the shrew owner should change out the filter first to see if that solves a loud pump first and then change out the pump if problems persist.
