No heat shield? I would consider wrapping the piping in heat repellent tape.

Nicely done! Out of curiosity, why did you decide to roll your own rather than buying a silicone tube? With silicone tubes being about $100, it seems like the logical (and cheaper) choice. But, if you wanted it to be metal or if there are other factors at play I'd be curious to know your thought process.

Straight up silicon tubing would probably risk collapse under WOT from vacuum.

Op, good work. You may want to even try using a reducer in the middle and increasing the pipe diameter to 3.5"/4" halfway similar to how USP does theirs.

What? I'm talking about aftermarket replacements like the Eurocode TRUfit:

That would work fine, for sure. But you'll be hard pressed to find 6 ply from frozenboost.com or the like for more generic/cheaper silicon.

Bought all my stuff from siliconeintakes.com
Prices are fair and the piping is quality. The aluminum for my heat shield i bought at lowes. And i chose 3" just because the tb inlet was 3". I never really understood the point of starting with a bigger size and reducing down to the tb inlet size and how that would help but i also never researched much on it. I just figured going bigger to smaller would produce a bottle neck effect and reduce air flow. But i have no data to prove my thought process lol. I could for sure be wrong on thinking that

And silicone is nice for connecting pieces but aluminum will never collapse and should always be the majority of your pipe besides joining pieces. Just rule of thumb ive always gone by. Hardest part about the intake was the heat shield but how snug i got the piping to sit in the cutout i didnt even need to make a mounting point for the pipe and the heat shield is held in my self tapping screws and is solid. Originally was going to make a top bracket for the heat shield to secure it better but once screwed down the shield is solid with very very little give. Im very happy with it.
