    Front passenger noise with pics

So im getting this noise going over any size bumps on the road on the front passenger side and close tuning shop told me it could be shocks or ball joints (they said 1.5 hrs labor to diagnose it which would run 150 so decided to try and see for my self or find a cheaper route) and since the coilovers are 8 months old i dont think it would be the shocks even if they were the cheap 500 dollar ones (Ta Technix). its like a metal hitting metal noise i guess ill try to post video of noise if i can but here are some pics while i was doing my oil change.

Im guessing its probably the control arm cause of that crack? would it be making noise cause of this ? the other side isnt ripped

also the plastic thing in the middle of the coils is ripped apart not sure what that means but its the same on both front coilovers

on a side note are u able to change the oil filter without taking out the oil ? could get the stupid thing out when changing oil was my first time getting 36mm socket in the mail in 2 days to make it easier. would i take the oil out and replace or can i do without it. the oil is new 5 miles driven on the oil with old filter.

    Thanks for the help

The oil filter can be replaced without draining the oil, some people actually run 15k oil synthetic changes with a filter-only change in between (on more modern cars).
You'll just have to top it off for the capacity of the old filter.

Thanks for that reply. Anyone got any ideas about the noise? would cracked control arm be making noise?
