    Rear deck/parcel shelf removal

So real easy question. Has anyone removed the rear parcel shelf and driven around for a while? Beyond the guys who have, removed the shelf and welded in full cages.
Reason for removal is to have, more storage area in car. Often transport a lot of stuff and parcel shelf gets in way more than not.
So if someone has, do you need to weld a reinforcement bar in or is the rear glass and metal under rear glass enough to keep car stiff.
And yes i will be getting an avant this summer so no need,to state the obvious. Thanks.

Most of the people who would do this are doing so because they have a cage and unless you are removing the seats as well you would not be gaining much space. It is a structural support so if you cut it out you should really be welding some bracing in to support that area.

Bottom cushion is only part i have in currently. I figured bracing would be needed. Will have brackets welded on probably and bolt in a curved piece of tubing. Seems easiest. Just wondering if i am the only one to attempt it while it still being my daily driver.
