Purchasing an RS6 with a Rebuilt title...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have been contemplating purchasing a somewhat local RS6.

    2003 with 90k.

    Grey on Black leather

Current owner says it runs and drives great

Being a 2003, and having 90k on it, I suspect the transmission is on its way out at any moment. It also has a rebuilt title due to the pictures that follow.

Car is listed at $10,900 which I believe is decent but i'd like to get a better price considering the ticking time bomb.

The car has since been repaired, obviously, and looks good (from pictures) here is the maintenance history from Audi. Nothing too detailed which is concerning.

If I decide to go look at it, I will be taking VAGCOM with me to check for any hidden codes.

I feel like you're at least covering your bases. Are you looking for any specific information? Or simply asking for opinions?

There is a Blue one with a clean title and a bad trans for $10,900 thats in mint shape on here. I'd say if you could get it a good bit cheaper you'd be in a good place

If its not clean title dont do it. Thats too much of an expensive car to take a gamble. Unless your pockets are deep ofcourse. What i would do is find someone with a paint tester and walk around the car and check all the panels. If the paint is original thats awesome, staight chassis. If the tiptronic fails, gives you a reason to install a 6 speed 01e, catch my drift bro? With that logic it seems like you should buy it. Check the panels though! If its sprayed, run, very far.

There are 2x clean titled rs6's in MA/NH craigslists cheaper than that... Clean title is what you need if you want any re-sale on a high end car like the RS6

Price is way too high given the title status, I think.

Guess I should have at least asked a few questions, lol. You guys answered what I was wondering though. The RS6 is one of my realistic dream cars, so to speak. I am currently looking for a daily driver big enough to haul around a toddler and infant, it pop up on a local CL ad so it had me wondering.

To be honest, I'd rather find a somewhat mint rs6 with a blown transmission for under $10k to put a beefed up 01E in it but something like that isn't in the deck of cards at the moment. Maybe I'll just stick with the c7 A6 and save some pennies to buy an rs6 one of these years.

If its been rebuilt due to an accident I would be leery about transporting children in it. "Rebuilt" can mean different things depending on which state it was titled in and it will never be as good as before.

I understand the desire though, I was this >< close to buying a '77 911 even though I knew it arguably has the worst engine Porsche has ever made. My friends talked me out of it. :)

I believe Twizz touched on this but there is a fella in the DC area (I wanna say) with a very clean blue one for sale. It has transmission problems but overall was a very sharp car. Might be worth a look.
I hear ya though, the RS6 is one gorgeous car!

I had a couple of shots at an RS6 and I never could pull the trigger. One of the things that appealed to me about the S6 is how relatively simple it is. No aging turbochargers and plumbing to deal with, no complicated air suspension.

The ZF 5HP24 gets a lot of grief but bear in mind that people on the forum are their to complain about them. You don't hear from all the ones that don't have problems. 132k and counting, knock on wood.

The short build thread in the chatterbox shows the things that I'm OCD about and what it needs to be perfect.
Don't want to sell, but I told my girlfriend I'd put it out there haha.

haha alright. I would have to have black interior anyways. I don't want to spend any money these days either. Maybe I'll pick up an allroad.
