    Doesn't shift when cold

This morning was colder than it has been and when I was warming my car up I went to put it into gear and it wouldn't go in. When I try to the car does move a bit so it means the clutch doesn't fully depress. After awhile of warming up I can eventually put it into gear. Does this mean I have to bleed the slave cylinder of possible air in the lines? My car is manual b5 Audi a4 with 04 engine swap.

When you say it "won't go in", do you mean that shifter is hard to move? At colder temps, the gear oil in the transmission can become quite thick and make the shifter feel like it's stuck. This seems to be confirmed that it works after warming up. By running the engine with the transmission in neutral (clutch depressed), you are still spinning the input shaft and warming up the gear oil.

Have you ever changed the transmission oil? There are differing opinions on here concerning type/weight of oil for the transmission. I have had good luck with Redline MTL for the cooler temps that we get in the PNW. However, it does say that it is not rated for transmissions with hypoid gears, which ours do. Regardless of the oil you choose, I would recommend changing it.

Yeah it physically won't go into a gear but I'll try and change the tranny fluid thanks

I'd try bleeding the clutch hydraulics if you get the impression that the clutch isn't releasing. Have you inspected your clutch hydraulics for potential leaks?
If you do change your trans fluid you should use OEM or Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75W80 as it's specifically for our type of transmission.

Whatever you do don't put gl5 in it or you will be looking for a new trans in 5k!
I'm running MTL 7580 and it's good other than when it's cold and I just start driving that's only 2nd sticks just a little. I will be trying amsoil next I think and soon. I did a gravity bleed on my clutch because I didn't have any help and it worked great. Just an heads up.

    Have fun.

Yeah, that'd do it! It's nice when it's an easy fix.
