Talking Anyone near Greenwich, CT that can check out an S7 for me?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I need a BIG favor! I am in the process of purchasing a 2013 S7 from New Country Audi in Greewich, Ct. She will be a stablemate to my 2013 Q7 Prestige S-Line. I have purchased many, many cars from out of state, and sight-unseen, but it would bolster my confidence if some kind soul that appreciates these fine automobiles would lay eyes on it and give me some feedback.

Normally, I wouldn't be as apprehensive, given it is coming from an Audi dealer, but my salesman says it appears the front bumper and rear quarter panel have been painted. The techs say the undercarriage is fine, along with all mechanicals, and the CarFax is clean, so it might be just some innocent blending due to a fender-bender. Either way, I would LOVE to get a discerning opinion as to if the work is noticeable, and if it is a "big deal" or a "you'd never know the difference" kind of thing.

I know it is a BIG ASK, but is there anyone around there that can help me out?

I have bought and traded in several cars from new country and they are generally pretty straightforward and honest. There are dealers out there that probably would t even have told you the panels were painted. I would ask him why he thinks that and if it was noticeable. They light metered every panel on all of my cars when I traded them in, so that might be the only reason they know. Ask for pictures and look for areas of overspray. If worse comes to worse, you and the missus get a nice trip to NYC around the holiday. That will at least get you some points!

That was a very gracious offer. Unfortunately, I didn't see it in time, and apparently don't have the right subscriptions applied, as I did not receive email notification that people had replied. Thank you so much for trying to help.

In the pictures, it looks like the front bumper doesn't have the same "metallic" luster that the body does. It seems to lack the Phantom Black Pearl "effect." Of course, it is incredibly hard to scrutinize nuances like that from a photo.

As an aside, the sales guys all swear that there is no plate filler for that car, and the entire grill must be replaced with a "plate delete" grill. I found several sites that say otherwise, and list OEM plate fillers for the S7. Very frustrating, as I was going to make them put one on as part of my final negotiations.

I went to go look at that car and it sold right before I got there. Did you end up buying it?

Also, I'm not a big fan of that dealership. Sales guys are pushier than normal in my experiences and they offered me $5000 less on my trade in than I received just down the road at Fairfield. Maybe they just don't like the cut of my jib!

I ultimately passed on the vehicle, and supposedly they were going to wholesale it, after their big "revelation" that it had had extensive body work. After a week of asking the right questions, it finally came out that the car had been wrecked. The disturbing thing was that New Country Audi actually did the body work (or had it done), yet none of the salesmen "knew" about all of the extensive work. One bumper had been done previously (and poorly), and the dealer had two doors, the rear bumper, and a quarter-panel completely reworked and painted, without replacing the skins...which means metal work. CarFax still showed it as a "clean" car, and the dealer seemed to be passing it off as one, also. The whole thing was SUPER SHADY, and very disappointing.

I hope you email or mail a quick note to AoA!!! This is completely unacceptable of any dealership but especially one of a "luxury market!"

This is unfortunate to read. I am looking at a 2012 A6 Prestige for $30K and 37k miles with them. Car's existing warranty ends in June 2016, so I was trying to get an extended added.

I too am from out of state, so I am going on Carfax, salesman description, and pictures.

What I find interesting are the lack of many CPO vehicles there..perhaps many damaged vehicles on the lot?

Their explanation to me was that they don't cpo so that they can be lowest on price and that, as a result, they draw buyers from all over the country (as seems to be evidenced here). They do move a massive amount of volume.

Sounds like nonsense..the whole point of buying from an audi dealer is the CPO...otherwise like myself, buy from any dealer and buy thebaudi/fidelity warranty and spend less.

Well that and they don't really have to CPO anything...dealers have offered me CPO or non-CPO with basically a $1,500 spread.
