Repair Wire for 8 pin Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror Housing?

I'm in need of some help. My car requires the 4 prong auto-dimming mirror and I have the correct wire housing part number 8K0971833 for my mirror that I purchased (it fits the mirror). I bought repair wire part number 000979009E and it doesn't work with the housing (it fits but the mirror connector doesn't slide down all the way). Part number 000979009E works with needle type male connector parts and for the application in question here they are more of a flat connector on the mirror. Does anyone have any experience in this area that they can help? I'd like to finish this project, but I don't have the correct repair wire. My auto-dimming mirror part number is 8T0857511ACEP5.

Went to the dealer this morning and they didn't have an answer. I wound up taking the mirror harness apart and modified all of the male pins (ground each one down perfectly...I'm an engineer) so that they would fit into the female part of the repair wire. Worked like a charm! Fit and finish is perfectly OEM and the mirror works great! There has to be an easier way, but this was a perfect no cost solution for me.
