    New RS7

After much drama, my past 3 months have been quite the crazy car times.

It started with the purchase of a 2016 S6 (Trading out of a 2015 BMW M5), which I realized after a month or so that I didn't like because I wasn't thrilled with the look or the handling.

Knowing the financial hit I would be taking, I purchased a 2016 S7, very loaded, and immediately lowered it and did the APR ECU tune. The car was fast and I was enjoying it, but it developed a few issues after 2 weeks and the car was at the dealer for 9 days in the first 3.5 weeks I had it. I opened a claim with Audi, with the support of my dealer, and finally got some resolution today and traded in the S7 for a 2016 RS7. Yes, I still took a financial hit but the dealer contributed and so did Audi Corporate, which made this a little less painful.

So, realizing a $30k mistake, I'm finally in the car I should have purchased at the beginning.

The car is a 2016 RS7, Glacier White/Black, Comfort Seats, Layered Black and Aluminum trim, Carbon Optic, Sport Exhaust, Silver 21" Rims, Black Alcantara Headliner, Cold Weather Pkg, body color mirrors, plus the normal add ons (cargo box, wheel locks, first aid kit, etc...)

I will try and post pics over the weekend after I have the tint done (35% all around minus windshield).

Debating lowering via Vag-Com and I don't think I will do the APR tune because the car is ballistic to start.

Congrats on the new car! Sometimes it takes a while (and a lot of money) to get something you're happy with, but it's worth it in the end cause life is too short to be unhappy with such an expensive/large purchase.

Wow. That's an amazing car story. Happy you landed in the right car for you! Next step....get us some pics!!!...then reconsider the RS7 APR tune. For just a few more bucks you would be in very hard to get to HP territory.

Congratulations on finally getting the car you wanted in the first place. Tuning the rs7 is a very personal decision as its faster stock than pretty much everything else out there, enjoy.

Congrats on the new car. How much tighter is the suspension over the S6 and S7?

    The suspension is noticeably tighter.

Btw, I have to thank HyperM3 for facilitating this transaction. I've said it before, but if you live in the Tri-State area, you owe it to yourself to contact him. He is great to deal with.

I have a question about the M5.....Did you find the lack of traction to be excessive? Was the stability kicking in like all the time? I am of the opinion that once you get to the power/torque levels of these car, you need AWD.

The M5 was absolutely traction limited in anything besides warm and dry weather.

But at a track, in the right conditions, none of the cars, including the RS7, was as fun or involving.

It just depends on what your goals are. I ran a drag radial full time on my last car. I didn't punch it from a stop, but from 40 or faster you were fairly safe...but I only drove that car when it was dry. Any moisture and it's a no go.

Lots of guys making big power DD their cars (700+ rwhp), just depends on if you are willing to spend money on drag radials, or run a tire with more sidewall...

I played that game and had a DD for my commute. Eventually decided I enjoyed driving a nice car daily rather than a rocket ship only on perfect weather days

Great of you to come in here and tell everyone how their cars were so disappointing and you lost your ass just to get out of them. You are telling that story amongst a group of S6/S7 owners.

Don't take it too personal, OP just said he didn't like the look of the 6 and of course coming from M5 he wouldn't feel the handling in S6 was good and he likes the look of the 7 more which he should have bought RS7 from the beginning.

There are people who got S6 because they don't like the 7's look and OP is just the opposite.

OP is trying to get support for his decision, so he can rest easier...feel a bit better for spending the $'s he did on his journey. Call it post purchase uneasiness, which is not exactly coming across great, here or elsewhere, IMO.

To each their own...congrats on landing in the car you like, jaws.

Yes, each to their own. I could have had an RS6, but didn't want a Wagon, and I also didn't like the throttle lag the RS6 has. I also like to use sports mode and for me the lift off backfire became tiring after a while. So for me the 2016 S6 sedan, tuned, is pretty much the perfect car.

I want to clarify and stress that I'm not trying to put anyone's car, choice or preferences down. We are all individuals with our own wants in life. The sensitivity shown by some here is the only thing that shows remorse or jealousy.

I'm not looking for validation or support at all. I was sharing information and sharing the process I went through.

I think these are all great cars and there is only personal choice to question. But the fact is, no matter what you do to a S7, it is NOT equivalent to an RS7. Period.

    Enjoy it!
I haven't heard of anyone ever say you can make an S7 = RS7. I definitely agree that you can't; they're different cars with different goals.

So by my response you got that Im remorseful or jealous? Get over yourself dude. Im saying that essentially you are walking into a room full of S6/S7 owners and saying that you couldnt get rid of theirs fast enough and that you paid whatever it took to get out of them. You arent going to get a high five from me man.

I think the OP just meant that he prefers the looks of the 7 over the 6 and that the rs7 basically gives him all he wants.
Here is a thread from a little while ago, funny and sad at the same time.

Congrats! I did something similar on a decreased scale involving an Alfa Romeo 4C. Great car, but I quickly realized it wasn't the one for me and the S6 was perfect. It isn't much fun losing that kind of money, but it is fun to finally have the car you really wanted.

It is Glacier White w/ Carbon Optics Package.

I really am loving this thing.

Some are trying to convince me to do the APR tune, but quite honestly, I think the car is just right as a daily driver stock.

Respond to a post with an answer, they will keep asking questions. Teach them how to RTFM, they will learn to help others.

Plus, having discussions today regarding the coming RS7 Performance, I still would have just proceeded with the "regular" RS7 because, living in the NorthEast, the DRC suspension is a bit rough for a daily driver, especially for someone my age.

seriously, these are all incredible cars and you can't pick a bad one. Just coming to grips with the level of engineering that goes into all of these cars (and Porsche, MB, BMW, etc...) and the fact that we get to drive them daily on the street with HP levels that make supercars from as recently as 5-10 years ago embarrassed is awesome.

Looks awesome, congrats! Does carbon optics mean anything for the exterior? Trim is still black, right?

I'm a sucker for white with tints. You plan on doing that? Feel like my wife's Q7 transformed with dark tints on black wheels.

Carbon optic package gives you carbon front lip, front air intakes, and rear diffuser. The window trims are still black plastic or whatever Audi names material to make us feel a little better that it's not a simple cheap plastic.

I like the Glacier better than Ibis, especially against the carbon optic. Incredible color combo.

Regarding the tune....the APR 30 day test drive just might be worth a try. What do you have to lose? My experience w APR is you still have a very refined car but you may never have an opportunity to get a car with that HP level in the future. Just my $.02. Enjoy!!!!
