[Solved]Strange noise since replacing turbo charger

    Hi, All

My audi dealer recently(25, Nov. 2015) replaced the turbo charger of my 2010 AUDI A4 B8 TFSI 2.0 Quattro 6SPD Automatic for fault at the 'waste gate'. Since then I hear a strange noise whenever engine RPM drops after the car's gear shifts.

I complained such noise issue to the dealer. A service adviser then referred me to a road test. Consequently, their expert drove the car and said, "I can't hear anything. There is nothing wrong with this car." Since, the noise is occurring randomly, and I couldn't hear the noise at the road test condition either, thus I took back the car.

Nevertheless, I have reasonable doubt about the noise. Thus, I came into setting up the experiment condition and was be able to record the sound of the issue.

Please check the video below for the record of the noise.

the noise is more evident when you use headphones.

The noise sound occurs usually when
The car is going up the hill or there is more load at the drive trains compared to a level load(climbing and/or acceleration)
Right after gear shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th. The noise is louder at the shift from 3rd to 4th
    When motor rpm is dropping.

I don't know whether it's normal as the waste gate operates properly or there is a problem with this car.

The vehicle is currently under extended warranty until 22nd, December, 2015 which is next tuesday

I am worrying such circumstance that an Audi technician magically finds out the problem after the warranty expires,
whereas he could not find any problem when the warranty is still valid and eventually I have to bear all the cost.

Since dealer technicians don't have any faintest idea about the noise, I would like to get some opinion from here.
Then I will drop by the dealer next monday morning to get the problem corrected before the warranty expires.

    Thank you all!

    Daniel

Okay, I am questioning and answering all by myself...
    But, they say it's normal.

If I saw this earlier, then I shouldn't had tortured my A4 over the weekend...

I think the sound you're referring to is the diverter valve. It releases boost when shifting. It's possible that with the new turbo you're making more boost, so you're now noticing the sound.

Indeed, anyway I realized the turbo lag is reduced compared to what it did before.
    Thank you for reply!
