Did he flush your brake fluid too?

Not a terrible price if that includes parts and everything.

no reference to brake fluid flush on the ticket
    rotors @ $130 each = $260
Akebono front pad set = $135
    labor $207.00

    tax $34.00

    voila--$636.00

Have used this guy for years but not in awhile as my S5 had been under factory warranty until recently. I do trust the guy and have never had a complaint about his work.
However, was taken back by the $

He didn't quote you prior to doing the work? Doesn't seem all that unreasonable if the fluid flush was done. Maybe a little high on the pads but having no idea what part numbers the rotors/pads are makes the conversation sort of pointless.

My local Audi dealer quoted 900 for similar service. I did all four including buying VCDS for not much more.

The labor seems okay if not a tad high. The pads can be purchased for ~$90 online. I don't know what rotors he used.

Where can you find Akebono pads for $90?

labor seems high. What's the shop rate? I'm no mechanic and I can do my front pads and rotors in my garage in a little under an hour.

All over. I originally saw them on FCP for $92, but here they are for just under $70. Tire rack also has them for 91.

My shop had to get a rush delivery on the Akebonos in order to do the job on 24 hours notice. So, I'll cut them some slack on there charge for them (
Making a trip next week and my guy thought I should get them done ASAP and yesterday was his only available day
So, I won't worry about this--as he does very good work and I'm not in a position to do this stuff myself

He says the rears still have about 10K miles on them and that they should be less expensive (we'll see)
    thanks for the feedback

Applauding you here sir. Not sure how many brake threads I've read. My front + rear brakes with rotors and pads took less than two hours for me to DIY; including VCDS cable. This honestly isn't rocket science the rotor/pad installation is easy if you've ever done it before. If you haven't then throw you manly friend who has a pack of beer and some movie money and have him/her do it and save yourself hundreds. Don't feed the hungry dealers!

Lol, yep. Mine took way longer than a couple of hours, but mostly because I had a devil of a time getting the caliper carrier bolts off and then the rotor was seized to the hub, so that took a long time to get both of the fronts off. Looking for an easier way to get the rear carrier bolts / rotors off. Waiting for my friend to get his two post lift installed.... :)

Just did mine. Parts cost is fine. Labour is high. Fronts should only take an hour without a fluid change which he obviously didn't do based on the invoice as he would have charged you for the fluid too. At the end of the day you likely paid $100 more but the dealer would have skinned you for a lot more.
