    this was the old one...

As you can see i tired the DIY from the forum here, to no luck.

The unit i purchased was 99% perfect and even the same part number. Yet i still have the same crappy reception. Any other leads i can look into? i tried pressing the amp in various places to see if maybe there was a crack within but still made no difference.

    thank you in advance!

Did you clean the contact points on the window with a light sand paper? The new board springs too ? This may help. Also before I replaced my board I pulled the springs out for a little for assurance.

I hope this works for you.

Before you junk your old one, maybe you could help me out. I've been looking for a picture of the parts under that first clip (by the part number). Please check out this thread: antenna-booster-board-detail.

Light sand paper can be to rough for cleaning electrical contacts. Instead, use a clean pencil erasure. An erasure has very fine abrasive grit in it , and the rubber will help remove any contamination on the contacts.

Thanks but i read this too late, i went the sand paper route and still nothing. Actually, i used my wife's nail filer thingy, the soft side. I didnt grind away the area, but i definitely "cleaned" it up.

Still no reception on most of the major stations, and forget about AM.

My next step is removing the radio and making sure the antenna is connected. maybe previous owner did some radio stuff and didnt re-connect it =/..

Yeah, make sure the antenna is connected to the radio, and also check the ground wires from the antenna amp, and the radio for connection to chassis ground.

I finally get to help john_gonzo? Sweet deal man. So listen, I baked the rubber covering off my board (VERY CAREFULLY) and can take a picture of the area you need later on this afternoon. Unfortunately, it didn't have the effect I desired (resolder the chips maybe?). Well, I get good reception from strong radio stations but not the one I wanted. Even though it works perfectly fine in my other non-audi cars. So basically, it works the same as before. I was warned not to do this because you can remove a couple of components if you don't really heat up the rubber. Fortunately, I did and nothing came away with the rubber.

Hey diuvic, this is great, thanks in advance! I'll watch the other thread for updates. No hurry, this is a long term project.
