    2017 Q7

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Morning All,

I have been a life long BMW X5 family vehicle and buying a 2017 Q7 to replace it. It looks to be an incredible vehicle.

I am already confused by the way Audi does business..., my wife and I went to look at the 17 Q7 and brought a check to purchase the vehicle. Problem is they wont sell us the vehicle...? They are saying that Audi wont or cant sell this model year until after the new year...? That just seems bazaar!

Maybe its true and that's the way they do it, or the dealer is not informed or not telling me the truth about the vehicle. If the latter is the case, we are starting on the wrong foot, not a great start.

    Any help would be great.

    Mike

A "Bazaar" is "a permanent enclosed merchandising area", so I guess technically a dealership is a bazaar, isn't that bizarre? I think there are rules around selling vehicles 2 model years in the future, like they can't arrive at port on this side of the pond until Jan 1, 2016. Just wait 2wks. I believe you can order it now, but not buy it and drive it off the lot.

    Check.

Thank you, that's helpful. Have you or has anyone been able to look at the second row of seats is there more room to enter and exit?

The 4M is narrower and shorter than the previous 4L however Audi claims there is more rear legroom than before for both 2nd row and 3rd row. I did not see that or feel that and nobody has released official specs.
Previous generation was 37.1" rear legroom I would wager this one is 35" area based my estimates of sitting there and seat positions. (It felt more like the seating layout of the current Touareg and the previous Q7.)

No, no one has been able to help. I dont know if any dealers are active in this forum, from the answers I have read so far, it doesn't appear to be. I want to just buy one or go over and purchase the Volvo XC90 that we know how it sits and rides. Ive never had such a hard time trying to give someone $75K in my life with BMW's.

    Thanks.

    Hi Mike,

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully I can help answer some of your questions.

    1. There are many Audiziners that currently work at dealerships. Based on the help I've received from Iconoclast in the past I would suspect they work at an Audi dealership somewhere in the USA.

    2. You can order your 2017 Audi Q7 now. This requires you to put down a deposit ($500 - $5,000) the deposit depends on how you spec the car and your dealership's policy.

    3. The 2017 Audi Q7 is being produced as we speak. Audi is building up stock and preparing for delivery to the US dealerships in the February-April time frame. At that point you can walk on a lot and leave with the car same day, but right now there are no 2017s for sale in the USA. Any Q7 you see on the lot is for demos and dealer staff training.

The issue you are encountering is that the new Audi Q7 is not a car that has existed for many years, this is not the same Q7 you can buy from 2015, but the 2017 Audi Q7 is massively different from the previous Q7. The car is almost worthy of a different name :). I understand your frustration in being ready to buy, but there are no cars to fulfill your order in this calendar year.

Recently I saw (what I suspect was a glitch) on Audi Minneapolis's website for 17 Q7s in transit. I don't know if these cars are customer orders or just a dealership order to get some on the lot. They are no longer displayed on the website, but given they showed up on the website 2 weeks ago I'm guessing they will show up in the next few weeks (correlating this info with VW's shipping schedule).

Again, welcome to the forum. I realize this doesn't give you the exact results you are looking for, but hopefully it helps some. Best of luck in your future car purchase.

I do not work for or with any Dealership. Cars are only a hobby of mine however if given the opportunity to work at a Dealership I would not turn it down providing it would not alter our current lifestyle.

Well you fooled me :). Audis are a big interest of mine as well, I always contemplated working at a dealership just to play with them, but it is a dangerous idea... I like them too much already; I'd go broke upgrading every 6 months haha.

    Mike,

The wait will be worth it! I have had my Q7 4M for 3 months now and it is head and shoulders better that the old one (it should be) The second row has much more leg room, the specs indicate nearly a inch but it feels more. I did have a ride in my mates 2014 and it felt like a dinosaur in comparison. Getting into the 3rd row is as easy as the competition and the electric lift is magic for the kids. The quality of the ride on steel springs is unbelievable and less floaty than the air. Worth trying on your roads. We tried the XC90 and took it on 3 long demos it was a close thing but on one trip in the Q7 and the wife was convinced. The engine is a light years better, refinement in the cruse was also night and day. The Audi was more $$ but the tech and not having a touch interface with slimy finger prints helped the decision.

engine in q7 is definitely better than the 4cyl in the xc90. no doubt about it.

This probably has something to do with government regulations. A model year 2017 vehicle can not be sold before Jan 1, 2016.

Thanks all for the information! We have decided to wait for the 17 Q7. We have been told by the dealer that it should arrive in the next 14 days. They have also given us the car at invoice for waiting for the vehicle to come in, I thought it was a nice gesture.

The XC90 was a nice vehicle, we really liked it, the only worry I had was the engine. I worried about its stability and technology with being blown and turbo charged... Audi has figured out a way to turn off the blower while at speed, I liked this part. I also like the start stop function, I know it only saves 6% (quoted by Volvo), but with 50/50 city to hwy driving, I believe it will be functional for us.

Thanks again and as soon as we receive the vehicle, I will post some updates with my thoughts as we drive it.

We looked at the XC90 and took a short drive in it with thoughts of trading our A7 for one. Stopped by Audi today as they were offloading their first 17 Q7 to the dealership; sat around and waited for them to pull the protective film off of it and we were instantly taken once we could get in it and look at the features. Honestly I can say it makes the XC90 look pretty substandard in comparison. Did the paperwork with the dealer and we'll pick it up Friday morning. Their allotment for the dealership was 6, next delivery is expected in March and they have sold 4 of the 6 already.

i still have an xc90 inscription build in progress but i am going to officially pull my order this week. too many problems. volvo is having difficulty with quality control and the dealers are lost. there is no after-sale support and the software update didn't fix all the bugs that they expected. the hardware issues are still around as well. what was supposed to be a game changer for volvo apparently is but negatively. it may turn away more new customers than bring in.

This is exactly where I'm at...Volvo bought mine back and I've got another custom order in and waiting to see if they can get it to front of the production line so I dont wait another 3 months. I'm worried. To be fair however, the car drives well, looks great and the tech worked for the short time I had it... plus it has remote start which by some is a nit but for my wife who is a surgeon who suffers from Raynaud's disease, its imperative to have the car warm before she gets in it when parked outside at the hospital. I have ordered a Q7 for myself...frustrated it doesn't have remote start but its for me and its not as big a deal (but it does have heated steering which is great). Its a tuff call until I have the Q7 in my hands I can't fully compare the 2 but they are damn close in specs and $$.

you can install auto start... most shops will charge $350 but i don't know how far her office is from the car if it will work but if it did with the volvo im sure it will with an aftermarket product.

Can we get the Webssto heaters retrofitted to NAR vehicles? Might be pricier, but keeps everything OEM.
