When I bought my car from the showroom, I really liked the piano black interior trim. Made the car for me. The carbon fiber that I saw in the C6 s6 I was shopping for before I decided on a C7 seemed rather lackluster and one dimensional. After the fact, I asked the dealer to price out a set of carbon fiber as I thought maybe I would switch it out. The price was astronomical!! I quickly gave up on that idea.
Fast forward to a few months back and I stumbled on a thread with oCarbon presenting the whole process of taking a set of stock trims, sanding them down and adding real carbon fiber to the surface. The photos looked amazing! The weave that they use is the RS weave which I think is different than what the S6 gets. It is more coarse and 3D.
I found a set of trim in the classifieds for a reasonable price and after some discussions with Matt at oCarbon I decided to go ahead with the transformation. He kept me updated with photos during the process and has been very cool in a number of ways. It arrived very close to the projected completion date. Just got it installed yesterday (Not so easy!) and I really like it.
Here are some iPhone pics. The pic with the installed dash has a bunch of smears on it from the install finger prints that I failed to wipe off. Thats not the way it looks, but it is dark now and I don't want to redo the photo. How do you like it? :
