Need VAG-COM help in Houston!

Hey everyone,

I am needing to replace my battery and the quotes I am getting from everyone are CRAZY (Lowest so far was like $400)! I know I need to "register" the new battery in the system, but am unsure of pulling the trigger on buying a VAg-COM myself. If anyone in Houston would be interested in helping me out, I will buy you lunch / case of beer / whatever you think would be fair.

Well, if you want to get technical, this is an international sub forum for the B8/8.5 S4.

Not everyone has the time to frequent the regional specific forums, so sometimes it is just as easy to post here and maybe catch someone local perusing the model specific forum. Much like when someone posts in the classifieds "Local sale only, no shipping" they are not immediately sent to the regional sub forum and chastised for their misdeeds.

If you were bothered enough to be "that guy" on the internet and post a completely pointless reply to my thread, scrolling past it and ignoring it would have likely save you from the pain and anguish this post has caused you.

It has caused me zero pain. I was trying to be helpful, you inconsiderate git. You stand about a 5,000% better chance of finding someone to help if you're looking in a subforum specifically for your area. I posted a link to that subforum along with a reason why you might want to try that subforum, and you get defensive and complain that I shouldn't waste my time. Your phrasing wasn't exactly leading me to believe that you were being positive or trying to help. With the large number of forum members indeed being combative, trolls, or "post / thread placement police," I am sure you can understand the conclusion I jumped to. Semantics and phrasing matter to those who pay attention, and tone can be pretty hard to infer from direct, non-illustrative language. Your post struck me as having an annoyed tone, and if that wasn't your intent then I apologize for being curt.

As for name calling, not sure what from that reply would qualify me as contemptible, self-entitled, or inconsiderate, but to each their own. I'll cede snarky and flippant as that was my intended tone, but the slang from across the pond could well be left for posts demanding the vitriol of those who actually WANT to argue.

Again, apologies for any perceived slight, and thanks for pointing me in another direction.
