    APR stage 1 ECU/TCU, 2016 S6, 5500 miles.. edit: CEL

5500 on the odo and I couldn't wait any longer. I haven't tried the comfort mode yet, but does anyone know if the transmission behaves less... violently when downshifting in this mode? That is, I just noticed it happening when I downshift using the paddles, but it seems like the clutch isn't fully engaging right away, as though perhaps they are feathering it to slow the engine down maybe. It's as though the rpms dip slightly below where it will equalize (not even sure how that's possible so maybe I'm not observing closely enough) then go back up and then overshoot, then come down and normalize. Maybe it's just the dynamic transmission since I was trying it in individual mode.. Or maybe it's just the gauge not being accurate

Beyond that. Dearly beloved holy @#$ does this thing move. I think maybe it wants to breathe...!

edit: ok, now I have a CEL. Hooray!

    Congrats!!

Are you saying the downshift behavior is new (after getting the tune) or was it there prior for you already?

The ECU/TCU do have a bit of a learning curve...I wouldn't assume much until after almost a full tank of gas has been consumed. I'm getting that ECU between now and spring. I love the idea of having something in the neighborhood of the heart of a Lambo with the sleeper looks of the C7. Enjoy the tune Kenny!

    interesting didn't consider that.
In any case, part of it may be in my head. It's great all around. There is only one situation that I think (so far for me) that could be improved. In stop and go traffic, if you are at a stop and get on it just a tad too much (and hardly at all really, just tap it) it wants to stay in first gear and won't go to second even if I let off the gas almost immediately and completely (since it's still stop and go traffic), and then it stays in first if you don't come to a full stop. I think it should at least guess that you want it to be in second in comfort mode. I am not sure there is any difference between the modes for the TCU, but in this case I think comfort should assume stop and go traffic. But like you said, maybe that will go away... I'll report in a week or two

I have the CEL on suddenly. I'm not sure if it happened when I tried to launch, but I was in individual mode, had the brake depressed, and gave it gas - car didn't want to rev more than 2000 rpm or less. Is it a requirement that the car be in dynamic in order to use launch control? Anyway, a couple of minutes later I look down and the CEL is on.

The manual mentions a way to clear CELs but doesn't specify the details of how. Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure the drive select mode is irrelevant to launching other than the transmission mode being D or S.

    What is relevant is:
    Traction off
    Wheel straight
    Transmission in Sport or Manual
Engine, rear differential and transmission at operating temp
Correct launch sequence of hard brake applied, and then full throttle quickly

What you are describing about holding 2k is a failed launch and is basically a soft brake stand. Sometimes my car fails to launch and I'm not sure for what reason(s). Stock ECU and TCU.

Ahhh failed Launch... yes I've never been able to determine what causes mine

I *think* it's related to putting the engine in dynamic mode BEFORE disabling Traction

Especially if i'm already in Dynamic mode, it's sometimes easy to skip the step

I find if I do the sequence in the SAME order as the manual every time, it always launches perfectly!

I don't have the TCU tune, but I can see what you mean... In Dynamic (engine) mode, the TCU is FINALLY allowing you to hold a gear. This is what most of us have wanted all along!

I can see how in Comofort (engine) mode the TCU should revert back to a more "comfortable" behaviour

Get APR's ODB dongle and then you can reset the CEL from your phone.

Ah, I forgot that you have to turn off traction control.

OK so should I buy the APR Bluetooth dongle for $200 bucks or the Ross-Tech "HEX CAN" cable for $350? Both can datalog and clear faults, right? but only the VCDS software with Ross Tech allows me to do do VAG-COM mods, is that correct?

the manual for the tune mentions a way to clear the fault using the stalk, but it does not actually say how. Anyone know how to do it?
edit: nevermind, it was just a little confusing they way they have it organized. It's in there.

2nd edit: if anyone is wondering, I just reset the CEL and didn't get the code read. Traffic was so bad at the time that I didn't want to waste hours... car seems just as powerful as before, and if it's important I'm sure it will come back soon.
