2000 S4 abs speed sensors into my 2001 a4?

It looks like the rear sensors share the same manufac. part number, according to ECStuning... but the front's seem to carry different codes.

Does anybody know for sure if I can hook up 2000 s4 front/rear abs sensors into place on my 2001 audi a4 quattro? Thank you in advance.

I dont see what the difference would be. Probably something stupid like length or grommet placement.

If you need a sensor, just get the cheap ebay ones. They actually work. And buy about 4 of them right away.

This guy is selling me them used for $20/piece. Cannot beat that. My good buddy thinks there's zero difference between speed sensors too.

Next question: are they directional? In other words, do I need to specify rear left + front right? It seems the rears are the same (maybe I only have 3 channel ABS in the 2001 audi?), but the front left/right seem to have different part numbers?

They aren't though.....

Front and rear are different from each other, but same side to side.

I don't know what you are talking about, but does this make you feel any better? I mean, not that you should believe some random guy on the internet, but is the Audi parts catalog a reputable source? Notice how it is the same part number, and it is labeled for the left and right sides.

No, but it doesn't matter. They all come from the same chinese factory anyways. Well, the cheap ebay ones do. I'm aure germany makes some as well, but they will cost a lot more than $7.50 shipped

Hmm, lets do some math. 200/7.50= 26.667. So, for the price of one OEM sensor, I can purchase 26 ebay sensors.

Now, I will admit, sometimes when I remove the ebay sensor after it has been installed, I have trouble getting it to work again. But I could have 25 sensors waiting to take its place for the price of one OEM one. Now, let's say I get 10k miles out of a sensor, or even 5k miles. Those 25 extra sensors will last me 125,000 miles, and that is with a VERY conservative estimate of only 5k per sensor. I've ran them for over 20k miles.

So in short, no I am not worried about quality or longevity because it makes fiscal sense. And heres another tip. Need to replace the abs sensor cage? Don't get them from audi. Find a truck shop that services volvos and ask for one. Odds are one of the techs has a cage sitting in his box. Meritor ABS sensors come with Wabco cages, and the techs rarely replace the cage, and the cage is identical to the ones we need. It is Meritor PN 21213036

I can't remember but I think I have had one fail after removing it. But, I've also had OEM ones fail after removing them. After that happened, I said screw it, I'm not paying that for an OEM sensor, so I checked out ebay. Figured for the price, it was worth a shot. And lo and behold, they work just dandy. I mean, an abs sensor is a simple device.

I too have had a lot of luck with the Ebay sensors. I'm 2 for 2 and have had no problems with them.

Yeesh I haven't logged into paypal in a dogs age, I'm afraid to know what it even looks like now. Yuengling.. a lot of locals like it, I'm more of a Labatts kinda guy. Actually I much prefer scotch or whiskey over beer.
