weird "flapping" sound audible in interior

Not sure what it is, its kind of annoying... I noticed it first last night when i got home after driving home from work. Its more noticeable after the car has been driven longer and seems to resonate from what sounds like the dash area? i can't notice it from anywhere else or hear it when i get out of the car and listen while its running. Even turning off the heat/air system i can still hear it.


The only thing i can think of is that i have a leaking front prop shaft seal (car goes in the 11th or jan to get this repaired), could it be related to that? i'd think it would be more constant and noticeable while driving though...


Any ideas? i dont know where to begin. I only really hear it when i turn off the radio and heat/air system.

If it only happens when the car is moving it could be a loose underbody aero panel.

I had the same problem w/flapping sound on my wife's 03 Camry and was puzzled for a little while. It was the front underbody panel under the radiator support.

The panel didn't droop much when the car was parked so it wasn't obvious. But when on highway and 60+ mph, it would flap and bang around from the airflow.

A few screws and it was all good.

well i havent dropped any food into my air vents after midnight so i can't imagine there would be gremlins back there

it actually only while sitting at idle, it goes away/isn't noticible while driving.
