    Stage 3 apr upgrades?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anyone taken their basic stage 3 apr setup and improved the supporting mods? (injectors, fuel pump, etc)

Basically thinking about going to an EV injector setup and a re-tune. Has anyone done this and if so what kind of improvements have you seen?

    TIA

Not much point to it. If you want more power, you will have to upgrade the turbo. Adding more fuel to the same amount of air will not do anything. However, you could have it tuned for e85, which would be a good increase in power. Or you could run meth.

But you have lots of t25 options as well, from a couple gt28's to gt3071r, or even an EFR. If you are looking for more power, that's what I would do. the turbo used on apr stage 3 is kind of small. It is a great kit, but not really for developing huge power.

With all of this said, you need to keep it within your stock rod limits, assuming you have stock rods.

This is All the people that have a GT2860 or 71r that are not runing APR tuning is pretty much what you will end up with. With the ARP turbo and mani setup you will be closer to the GT2860 power level vs the 71r.

the key will be the retune as APR tunes on the "safe" side, less aggressive. so for $800 you get 20 more HP? $250 for EV550 and $550 for new tune give or take?

Ok, what if I was looking for smoother idle, better fuel efficiency. I am just wondering if my setup that is 10 years old is outdated and inefficient. As for power I am pretty happy with what I am. I do have stock rods so I am not looking push the envelop on that.

It is most likely maintenance issues, not issues with the APR kit.

I would toss in some genesis g2 630s. or some double foggers. thats if you end up doing it. The better spray / atomization will net more low end power and a more efficient burn. Will it be a night and day difference, but im sure you'll notice a gain or improvement.

What injectors does yours use, 440s? Ive been very happy with my genesis 415s, for idle and such. If you change to anything larger, your going to need a new tune. But you can run 415 at 3.5bar, and keep the same tune, assuming you have 440s

But the 415 won't require a new tune, 550s will

Yeah, your block once you put a hole in it.

OP, as far as I know APR injectors are the same injectors as ones already out there with an APR sticker on it. Nothing would need to he changed if you were to throw in Bosch EV injectors other than wiring modification if necessary. Find out what flow rate your current injectors are then get them in the EV. If what you want is a snoother ride, that with decent ignition spark mod shoukd do it..

I ran my boost up a couple times over 20psi and I ran a really big turbo on wastegate pressure for a long tjme on the apr tune.

I had thought of using a fuel map adjuster like one APEXI makes but ended up never doing it. I was going to throw 660s on it and adjust everything down appropriately as a basemap. Again, never did it but the theory is still there...

if you are gonna retune EV-14 550s or Genesis G2 630s... and in that case, just get the 630s.

The injectors will be happier and have more headroom for growth later down the line. once youturn up boost and need more fuel in there.

It has to due with air to fuel ratio. What boost was the wg pressure on with the larger turbo? Do you know what your af ratio was during spool and at wot? If you don't have enough fuel to compensate with air then you run lean. That is what blows the motor. If the fuel was able to keep up with the air at wg pressure, then things will be ok. And the ecu can adjust slightly (something like up to 15% or so, so I read somewhere). This is why you can run different sized gt28 turbos on the same ots tune.
