hey guys got a question and need some opinions i currently have a bbk on my car but i did not install it the preveous owner did. they are brembo 4 piston calipers with porche 993 rotors im stuck right now with all the power should i stay with the big brakes because i cant seem to find new rotors without spending 800$. or should i go back to stock calipers and get slotted or drilled rotors and get really good pads i dont track the car at all its my daily and the only time i really step on it is on a long straight away so just woundering what your guys opinions are, much appreciated

Cobble together a 17z or 18z setup and sell that one to recoup the funds. Maybe even come out $ ahead.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

I'm not super familiar, but if I recall correctly- doesn't the 993 setup use an OE fitment 321mm rotor?

Stock calipers with a good set of pads and drilled/slotted rotors will be all you ever need for the street.

There is no reason to go any thing bigger imo.

You don't even need to take the rotor off to measure it. Just remove the wheel and take a tape measure...you want the diameter and the width. Check the minimum thickness on the rotors and compare it to what you have, if it's well within the range then just replace the pads!

Chris, it looks like Apikols 993 brackets allow you to run either their 322x32mm two-piece rotor, or the stock 321x30mm rotor.

You can either just get a standard one-piece replacement (Stoptech, Centric 120, Brembo, etc) for cheap, or JHM offers stock 2pc rotors for ~$500.

I think size is 332x32, at least that what I have with these calipers on stage 3 ECS on my Allroad:

ecs would sell you these rotors, but they are not cheap. There used to be a seller on ebay selling just friction rings for under $300/pair, but I think they sold them all.

Yeah, so probably a good idea to measure them, OP. If they're 322 it's likely the Apikol kit and you can run stock rotors.

If 332, it will likely be expensive to get replacements.

^This. If you only plan to daily the car and don't care much about looks, going back to stock makes a lot of sense. You could slap together a really good rotor/pad/fluid/line kit for less $500 if you do some research, and the car would stop hard (much harder than stock!) and have good manners around town. BBK's look cool and all, but all that caliper (and rotor) is just for heat absorption and modulation, and some kits can actually perform WORSE on the street under certain conditions.

Especially if you don't have good tires, which a lot of people forget. The stock brakes are more than capable of locking up the tires, if anything in addition to pads/fluid/lines I would add a larger disc for the rears.

Agreed on stock brakes being sufficient for most street duty. But unless you already have stock HP2s in your possession, I would go with the B6/B7 S4 calipers as they are better in every way and will cost you about the same as HP2s would (aka- they are cheap). The B6/B7 rotors are 25mm larger than stock, too.

This would be the ONLY brake upgrade I would ever do.
