Paging David Sarabi or any other Revo Geek...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently had a coilpack failure. When I hooked up my vag-com it would not achieve communication with the ECU. After trying several times and failing, I tried with Lemminwinks and it worked fine. After that, vag-com worked.

Same thing happened a second time, no vag-com, try Lemminwinks, it works, try vag-com again, it works.

After swapping the coil pack I took my car to the dealer so they could document the DTC. The rep came to me and asked me if the car was chipped. I said "no, why?" and he said that they could not get their computer to talk to the ECU...

So, the Q is: could this situation be related to my Revo flash?

Less than 5 minutes after I posted this I got a PM from David telling me to call him.

We talked about the issue and he said he was going to send a new version of the flash to my local tuner so I can get a re-flash.

    This guy is truly amazing.

I've always had some trouble communicating but I always blamed my "non-standard" obdtool.com cable.

Now the dealer is having the same problem so it's obviously not my cable.

David said it could be an issue with older versions. My flash is two years old so I might as well update it. I've got nothing to loose and I could gain a couple ponies.

I contacted my tuner. David called them and emailed the file. All this happened within the last hour or so.

David doesn't know me nor is he making any money here.

Did I say that his guy is amazing?

    Thanks a bunch David.

Would you put a sticker on your car that said "Tuned by WalMart"?

    Don't think so...

The same exact thing happened to me when I had a coil pack go last year around this time. My ECU needed to be replaced and my REVO was lost... I called REVO directly and they sent the new file to my local tuner (SWIFT MOTORSPORTS) where they re-flashed me for free. REVO has great customer service!

When I upgraded to APR's big injector, I had the same issue where the dealer could not communicate with their VAG-1552. However, I had no problems with VAGCOM or an OBDII scanner. Let us know if the problem goes away with a reflash.
