I apologize if this has been asked before. Quick search didn't yield much...

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge as to the difficulty of getting a new keyless key w/ chip counter fitted? I ask this because my coworker just had his truck recovered in Maine (stolen from Maryland). In the cab of his '15 Dodge Ram was a non-standard RF keyfob. He has his 2 from the factory. This one isn't a dodge fob but accesses his doors and push button ignition.

This made me begin to consider the security of my car... and the one I'm ordering. Google searches makes it sound like all you need is a vin to get these made. I would suspect it's more complicated than a code based on the vin#
