    Intake Question

I get it... the stock air box is good enough to hold up to 300hp (Or So). So I'll take your advice and not buy an intake... but what about the turbo inlet pipe? ANY benefits or improvements joining one with the stock air box? I only ask because APR currently has their TIP for sale for $99.99 rather then the normal $199.99 and I'm itching to buy one. At the same time... I'd like to gain a benefit. Let's be honest... I love the semi truck hiss and blow off sound from a aftermarket diverter valve also. My girl gifted me a K&N drop in filter (I know... I know) but I needed a filter anyway so I have that for now. Last question: Does any of the "Holes" on the TIP have anything to do with the SAI? I ask because eventually I want to delete it. Thanks in advance!!!

Changing to an aftermarket turbo inlet pipe will not provide any power gains. They are good for the fact that the stock rubber ones seem to have a tendency to crack. That is the only real benefit that I know of. The silicone ones are very nice though for this purpose. And no, none of the holes on the intake tube have anything to do with SAI.

Some also say that an aftermarket TIP won't collapse under high vacuum (like WOT) as the stock one might. I can't verify that the stock TIP is prone to collapsing though.

SAI connects to the air box lid, and has no attachments to the TIP (at least on the B5).

Thanks. I have another small question. APRR1 or Forge... or is it just Preference?

I have a forge and it's held up really well over the years

Yeah... Forge is a bit cheaper too. Any advice on the best drop in? Is AFE the best for our cars or AEM... Once again... thanks in advance.

Drop-in filters are all going to be roughly the same - ignore whatever HP gains they advertise. I'd just go with whatever is cheapest. You can also look into the "swiss cheese" mod if you'd like a little more airflow and sound. It basically involves strategically cutting holes into your airbox to improve flow.

Forge and APR are both great DVs. I personally had a Forge Splitter for a long time and loved it.

Yeah I'm not concerned about any horse power gain. I know I'm not gaining anything significant in that area as I'm bone stock other then a drop in K&N which even I don't consider a mod. I'm currently looking into the Swiss cheese mod just to entertain myself while I would on this groceary list of maintenance.

A TIP might increase hp a bit, and should definitely improve responsiveness of throttle/boost. Swiss cheesing the airbox will improve turbo noise, response, and DV noise.
