I'm a little curious on how you'd be wiring your dash cam. I currently have an all in one that is mounted to the right of the rearview mirror and plugs in to the cigarette lighter.

Same way as I wired my radar detector except instead of going to the driver side, I'll be running the camera on the passenger side. All that is needed is add-a-fuse, either a constant 12v or switched 12v open fuse port (or you can tap into an existing one), hard wire the 12v line from the camera to the add-a-fuse 12v hot (butt crimp or solder) and then find a suitable ground spot for the ground line from the camera (usually you can use one of the nuts that is visible in the fuse box - remove it, wrap the exposed ground strands around the stud and then put the nut back on and tighten or if you have a terminal - even better!

Now - some cameras use 5v instead of 12v in which case you'd still need to use a female-to-male cigarette lighter adapter as the conversion from 12 to 5 is done using the cameras' proprietary adapter... but you can still hard wire it and there's enough room to hide all the wires in the fuse compartments.

When I wire up my cam, I'll take some pix... If I remember to!

exactly. or you can make that tab wider. depends on how much wiring you need to get in there. or even use a felt (the ones you stick under furniture legs so you can slide them around) make that opening look even cleaner.
