Cable routing into the glove compartment

So I am thinking of getting the Street Guardian SGZC12RC dashcam. It's a remote lens camera where the lens is wired to a little box that acts as the screen/control mechanism using a what seems like a USB cable.

The controller box will then be hard wires to the car. I would like to have the controller box completely hidden - and one option is to 'glue' it to the underside of the dash or maybe hide it in the glove compartment. At first glance, the compartment seems to be 'sealed' - no easy way to snake any wires in... but perhaps someone knows a trick or two? I'd like to avoid drilling or punching holes in anything...

Just remove the glove box and put it behind it.

I don't want to put the stuff BEHIND it - I want to put it inside the glove compartment but have no idea how to route the two cables it'd need without drilling anything...

Cable routing into the glove compartment

Drill holes in the glove box wall and run them through?

I'm a little curious on how you'd be wiring your dash cam. I currently have an all in one that is mounted to the right of the rearview mirror and plugs in to the cigarette lighter.

There is an opening behind the AMI box.... that's how I routed my cable to the center console.

take the AMI port out of the glovebox then you got a nice opening there to snake wires on the side dash.

Same way as I wired my radar detector except instead of going to the driver side, I'll be running the camera on the passenger side. All that is needed is add-a-fuse, either a constant 12v or switched 12v open fuse port (or you can tap into an existing one), hard wire the 12v line from the camera to the add-a-fuse 12v hot (butt crimp or solder) and then find a suitable ground spot for the ground line from the camera (usually you can use one of the nuts that is visible in the fuse box - remove it, wrap the exposed ground strands around the stud and then put the nut back on and tighten or if you have a terminal - even better!

Now - some cameras use 5v instead of 12v in which case you'd still need to use a female-to-male cigarette lighter adapter as the conversion from 12 to 5 is done using the cameras' proprietary adapter... but you can still hard wire it and there's enough room to hide all the wires in the fuse compartments.

When I wire up my cam, I'll take some pix... If I remember to!

exactly. or you can make that tab wider. depends on how much wiring you need to get in there. or even use a felt (the ones you stick under furniture legs so you can slide them around) make that opening look even cleaner.
