did you put it in stock mode before you brought it to them? if yes then you probably shouldnt worry because I doubt they will go through computer logs to see higer boost levels and such.

I brought my car recently to dealer when I had some problems and they asked me if it was chipped as well and I said no and they never said anything about it after fixing the problem

it wont make a difference if its in chipped mode or not for them to find it. The only thing with it being chipped is if they drive it they would know.

I honestly dont think they really go looking for a chip though they just like to know if its there to rule out problems. I know how you feel though I was all stressed out too when I brought mine in but it was all good.

hell, the dealer just has to look at my car and goes "yeah, this car isn't stock". The service advisor was pleased to hear about my modifications . . . and they still do warrranty work for me.

The only time I was remotely pissed was when they joy rided my car around the block . . . I think they wanted to see the boost gauge in action.

they are trying to help you fix our car. they need to know all the information that they can gather. i'd rather do a favor for an honost person than someone that lied to my face. obviously you need to be dealing with a service advisor that's not an arsehole.

1st thing: find a service rep that is cool.

    2nd : be honost.

i have the giac chip, when i got it, the person did it for me told me they can't find out, and when i took it for a standard maintance, they found it.

but the interesting fact about it is that, a good friend of mine is a tech @ santa monica saab, as he told me, there is alot of customer came int o their place with damage engine, and they don't evn bother to check for the cause, they simply just repair the engine or the parts for the customer.

so i guess there is people who tends to protect the interest of the company and there is people who just dont care.

I got this from a service tech

"You know since your car is not stock I cannot do any warranty on it"

"Really? can u just fix the parts that are broken"

"Sure thing" Gives me a wink and points to his S4, which had an RS4 package on it, and had an Audizine sticker on it.

They asked me to go to the garage though and they had my hood up. They were all poking and prodding. They told me they didnt see a lot of this and such, and we chit chatted. I was out of warranty too btw but they did a once over and replaced anything and everything that was broken. Go to Audi of Alex******and ask for Josh. He will hook u up.

Tell them to fix it. The hissing is caused by bad fuel filter which can often be a tell-sign the fuel pump is failing. This happened to me and several others local. Read about here on the zine as well.

I asked them to change out filter under warranty during 30k service. Pickup the car, no more than a block away, check engine flips. Cylinder mis-fired came back on vag. Culprit...failing fuel pump. Replaced and all set 24hrs later.

Tell them it's a known problem and should fix before you find yourself stranded one day. Don't be a dick but be stern and act knowledgeable.

    baaah!!!!

if a dealer ever asks you if you are chipped, even if he just gave you a reach around, lie- SAY NO.

its a trick. a dealer is out to make money. this may shock you, but they are a BUSINESS. if they can relate chipping (which voids your warranty) to any malfunction, they will do it. lets break out the elementary school economics 101A book- if a company doesnt have to spend $$$$, it wont.

they are many arguments about how you are a hamburger eating american and can prove to the dealer that your giac fuel pump which gave you 230 hp and jeff lee a electronic erection didn't have any possible thing to do with chipping and how thats unethnical and blah blah blah they cant do that. horse shit. your only counter measure is getting a lawyer, which is a very lame alternative to this problem and really the end-all-be-all is that they aren't servicing your car when you need it.

do yourself a favor- hide the flash.

also, do a search on this site. ive seen this question aboot 302 times and there are some great answers from people. this is such a frequently asked question, im sure people are sick of it, so head to the archives for real thought out advice. you'll be happy you did.

The tech. can check the flash-counter... I don't believe that their is any chip that resets the flash counter.

AOA pays for the bill. The dealer knows you will not have them fix things that are not under warrranty because we can go somewhere else to get if fixed a hell of a lot cheaper. if the dealership can get the work and charge AOA for it, that is the ideal situation for a dealership. It's not like the dealer is doing anything for free, AoA pays, dealership does the work. Did you actually think the Dealership is paying for your warranty????? Anything that is done under warranty is paid for by Audi, not the dealership.

then roll up with a FMIC, yell outloud that you have REVO and see what happens. bro, i could care less, but the whole point of the thread was "should he hide his chip"

chipping = voids the warranty. Who cares who AOA pays or whatever youre talking about.

If you can hide the chip and the warranty covers whatever part went sideways, by all means do it. The whole bottom line is getting the defective part fixed...for free. Id much rather have AOA pay the bill than myself. thats the whole pt here.
