Vag-com Issue - DRLs failure when headlights are turned on:(

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently updated the Vag-com coding to reduce the DRL brightness from 28% back down to the factory setting of 9%. The code took fine, but if I start the car with the headlights off the DRL functions normally and is back to 9% based on the brightness. Unfortunately, when I turn on the headlights I immediately get the following error:

02895 - Supply Voltage for LED Module for DRL and Parking Light; Left
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 01101100
    Fault Priority: 2
    Fault Frequency: 5
    Reset counter: 242
    Mileage: 31362 km
    Time Indication: 0
    Date: 2015.12.08
    Time: 19:43:18

02897 - Supply Voltage for LED Module for DRL and Parking Light; Right
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 01101100
    Fault Priority: 2
    Fault Frequency: 5
    Reset counter: 242
    Mileage: 31362 km
    Time Indication: 0
    Date: 2015.12.08
    Time: 19:43:18

I compared my log files and noticed one change in the long code, see below:
    Address 09: Cent. Elect. (J519) Labels: 8K0-907-063.clb

    Long code from earlier scans:

    26000011803CAFF2390040C300003D0D0F9CD308A20902210000080040000702000400 30000000

    Recent long coding…

    26000011803CAFF2390140C300003D0D0F9CD308A20902210000080040000702000400 30000000

Can I update the long coding and change the "1" to "0" or will it create additional problems? I don't want to brick the car!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You could always go back to the 1 if it's not the fix. Are you seeing any lights, or are they both not working when you turn the headlights on? I did this years ago and I set the brightness to low and only one light worked. I just added two % to the value and it worked fine after that.

Thanks for your suggestions. I've tried returning the brightness to 28% and the same thing happens, the DRL function fine until you turn on the headlights. Then they turn off of both sides.

Sounds like I should be able to change that one bit and see if the problem is gone. Since the DRL functions when the headlights are off, this points me in the direction of a coding issue.

Maybe Ross Tech could help? They may at least know the factory coding value to reset it.

There is a threshold at which the LED lights won't activate. On my car I believe it is about 18%. Anything less and the LED's won't come on and you get an error message. If you don't have LED's I don't think this is a problem. At least it wasn't when my last Audi had the xenon lights. I would just adjust your brightness to the lowest number possible.

Add so percentage and it should come back. Mine was 8% and it would work.

sorted now, just put in 28 % and they worked again, just some advise going forward from you experts:

    (1) When switched to auto, the DRL are bright, i assume at 100%

    (2) when i manually switch to day light, they dim down, i assume to 28%

    (3) when on full beams they stayed dim at 28%

so surely when they are in manual day light the drl should be at 100% brightness, is this correct?
