    clutch alignment question.. possible issue?

the clutch is about a mm off center from the PP. I torqued the flywheel down, used the ECS alignment tool, then torqued the PP down. no matter what I do, this thing ends up slightly off kilter. basically, the trans will line up, but I'm worried of getting vibration and having issues when I start it. is this normal? thabks for any advice..

If you can slide the install tool in and out fairly easily, you good to go.

The first time you press the clutch pedal in, it will release the disk and find its home.
Vibration issue, Im laughing, and you deserve it

Just be careful putting it in. Keep it straight, and dont just get it close and ram it home with the belhousing bolts.
Ramming it home with the bolts while the splines are misaligned or letting the trans get too off kilter will warp the disk and you will be starting another thread titled "Why wont my clutch disengage".

What he said. Hold on to the tool (I had to haha) and help I make sure the disk stays centered. The weight of the disk will pull down so you need to support it just a bit till the plate clamps down on the disk.

Didnt notice the pilot before, something does look a little fukky.

Id pull it apart and make sure the tool fits snugly in both the pilot, and the disk. Maybe try the black plastic one if it came with it.
Also, tighten the bolts down slowly and evenly as you go around. Like 1 turn at a time until they are all tight.
If you just crank them all the way down as you go, it can pull like that.

first of all, "new thread entitled, 'why won't my clutch disengage'", lol

the pilot is actually the straight part. that pic makes it looked eff'd up. in person it looks perfect. it's only the clutch disk that's a little off kilter. I used a flat head to compare clearance. the tool goes in and out very easily minus the suction created by the tiny hole in the pilot. I took my sweet time with it. <- gosh that sounds sexual.

what you say makes sense about it settling after the PP is released. I'm bolting her up to the engine with the new bolts tomorrow night. the mating ritual begins

zillarob, I see your name a lot on here, you seem to know your ish.

I'm wiring a tip car for the clutch pressure switch and cruise vent valve. pin 2 and pin 39 in the engine bay plenum: you have any idea or pics of those suckers?

Autos are the devil I rarely see them.

Looked like some good pics in this thread http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...1#post11128957

In the plenum, that will prob be the funny color connectors by the ecu.
People usually call them by color "orange connector", but proper name will be something like "t10ar".

Looks like it goes like this

    Clutch vent > White connector pin13 > ecu pin39
Other side of clutch vent looks like it goes to 12v.

I would just jumper the other clutch switch for the starter to save wear and tear on your new clutch.
Just dont start it in gear and run somebody over
