2.7t 6speed allroad value vs. blue book

I'm not well versed in the allroad, but one came up for sale locally that is a black 2.7t 6 speed. 135,000 miles, completely rust free. I has some issues like a sagging front suspension when it sits for a day parked, as well as some fault codes for the EVAP system, MAF, misfires... nothing major.

KBB puts one of these at around $3,300 in excellent shape. This car is NOT in that condition with the CEL and a pretty rough interior that needs some junk yard parts like new seats and some bits of trim. The seller is asking $5,000 OBO... seems really out of line but is there actually a market for these to bump up the price that much over book? With the condition I was thinking maybe $2,000.

    Thoughts?

In mountain and/or snow states the allroad carries a premium because of it's capabilities. $5000 might be a little high because of the immediate repairs needed but I bet it will sell easily for north of $4000. KBB values aren't really all that accurate on older cars in my opinion. You have to gather a few for sale ads in your area to see what the true value is. Good luck.

The six speeds carry a big premium.

If I were the seller I wouldn't go under $3,500 even considering the issues. Six speed swap alone is $2k.

Not really. The factory allroad manual transmission has significantly different gear ratios than the A6 sedan, and not in a good way (made for towing, not for going). I have owned both the 6MT A6 and allroad. Combined with the allroad-unique 4.375:1 final drive ratio you will be spinning at over 3000 rpm at freeway speeds.

I also always figured that those high mileage manuals would need a clutch any day so I would prepare to have the clutch replaced as well.

You have a point for sure but original is always original and a swap, well its a swap. Have an a6 with 01e also and thats why i bought it regardless of all its kinks and problems that i had to work out, because it was factory and not a swap.

Depends on what you're doing. I find the allroad gearing to be faster in acceleration (because it is) due to being in the meat more of the time. Including that 3k highway zone. I gladly sacrifice redline speed in each gear and find the allroad box to be lovely.

$5k is totally reasonable. Use KKB for silver Honda Accords and beige Toyota Camrys. If it's an uncommon car then KBB is talking a blind shot in the dark (rarely get it right)

*I used to sell cars and dealt largely with higher-end German.

Also 135k on factory clutch, stage II+ and will hold a 4.4k launch. Obviously depends largely on the drivers though.

I just paid $2k for one with the ABS light going off. A few cosmetic issues but overall good condition. Could not find a manual trans by me.

You get all wheel spin when you do that on dry pavement? I have only tried in the rain.

There's very little slip, the front does a bit since it lifts so much for the split second before power is sent to the rear. The rear I doubt slips at all given my tires. Maybe a tiny bit, esp if there's any loose gravel. It's ridiculously fun though, I'm very excited for stage III.

The clutch feels fine, I've owned a B5 S4 before it felt no different and wasn't slipping.

It's an original car, daily driver. The guy I think has no idea of 6 speed value vs automatic. There's a very, very small market for euro cars in Wyoming, I might let it sit until after Christmas then give him a $2,000 offer. I don't really need another car but $2,000 for a 2.7t manual with no rust seems too tempting to pass up, even with the issues. $1,000 in a junkyard would sort out all the interior problems.
