My shop took a look and it wasn't touching anything at all, which is why I am stumped at how this could happen. Never had a SS brake line do this before.

Had one burst this summer in a B5 while in an endurance race. Downhill at 120+. Didn't know it was possible. Was pumping to try to get pressure back, not realizing I was pumping brake fluid onto the rotor.

it happens rarely under normal or mild track use. but i have seen it at alot on road course races, endurance and rally, its usually a small defect and under extreme load use and spike in heat it just pops.

Someone burst a SS line at a HPED event going into a corner 100+, but he was able to save it. I purchesed SS lines before that event and never put them in, they are still sitting my garage after seeing that happen.

I replaced it with an OEM hose since time was of the essence. I don't notice any difference to be honest.

Yup hoses blow, Factory and Aftermarket. All it takes is a minor defect that you can't see from the out side and eventually something gives, yours probably had a minor nick in the inner tubing and it was missed by the person doing the assembly. Buy a replacement and get on with your life.

Brake lines, OEM or SS braided, should be replaced every few years, and more frequently if you do any track time. Scary stuff.
