I will start right off with saying that I'm looking for a setup that will work with my wife's 2013 RAV4 with push-button start. She's not techie, so something with 2-with comm's, super-fancy remote, etc. would be a waste. A simple fob to start it from 200' away is all that is needed. I have a Viper on my F250 that is 9 years old and works great, but I've not kept up on what is out there so I'm hoping someone else has and can offer up some info. We're down in Fountain, so the further south in the Springs, the better. Pueblo isn't that far either, Monument works too, but I'd prefer to not drive up to Denver if possible. Thanks!!

to be honest one manufacture makes 90 percent of them even though they are branded by different company names and sells some of the parts to the other 10 percent(check crutchfield for a great options break down of whats out there)
any you get at best buy or car toys work fine its more of who is actually putting it in and how clean of an install they do
they still have 3 button simple remotes or the one where you can use your smart phone or fob with different touch systems
    .

if its a manual they sell the clutch adapter your just paying 200 extra for it
you have the option to hook up defroster and door unlock to some of the systems
some also take over the factory alarm system as an i do the locks alarm and remote start which tend to be better less chance of remote start setting off factory alarm plus on fob to carry
and lastly range some have a longer range

Thanks for the info. I know DEI makes many brands (Viper, Avital, etc.) and I should have been more clear since you did hit on exactly the point I was after but did not focus on enough: quality of the install. I'm looking for pretty much the most basic version available while not being cheap junk, and done by a quality installer/shop. I did an Avital 4113 or 4103 on an '02 Grand Cherokee myself, I just don't think I want to dig in to the wife's 2013 RAV4 in case something isn't 100%... so I don't catch the fallout on her primary vehicle.

Quality shop recommendations is what I'm really after and appreciate any info. Thanks!!

I got this one for a friend , works great and was a pretty simple install. Not big on box store installs, but it's a pretty straight forward setup and if there are any issues there is a warranty on the labor/install for life. I liked that because you can live in any city and find a BestBuy if it has any issues. Specialty shops tend to be pretty localized.

    Edit:
Also forgot to mention the range is pretty damn good for a fairly basic setup. It worked as she was walking towards the parking garage, and the car was on the 4th floor.
