    Battery draining over night.

I parked my car in my garage over night like usual and next morning my wife tells me that she heard some noise coming out near my car. She said it sounded like someone is vacuuming far away. I didn't think much then when I tried to leave for work about 6 hours after she told me my battery was completely drained. Down to less than 1v. I replace the battery and I didn't hear any noises. Then over night it drained about 2v. Since the battery was above 10.5v I charged it then started my car drove around for about 10min and parked it again. About 12 hours later it lost another 1v. No noises no light left on nothing. Just losing battery juice. Any thoughts?

Do you have rnse? If you do? It might be programmed wrong and it doesnt shut off after 30 seconds of locking the car like it supposed but it runs constantly

hook it inline to the battery negative cable and start pulling fuses. you'll atleast be able to narrow it down

    +1

You need to know which circuit is draining the battery, doing it any other way is just guesswork.

What is the normal "amp" am I looking for here? With all fuses in I see just over 1.0-1.1 amp.

I'd say less than 0.50 amps with EVERYTHING shut off

make sure to trick the system into thinking the driver's door is closed,
some cars turn on some electricals as soon as you open the door

I think it's the driver door. After locking my doors it doesn't give me the "beep" saying the car is locked. I m assuming door lock sensor?? How can I fix this?

i had to do some engine work recently and couldn't close the hood for the night. My car didn't beep either because the hood trigger was open. Unless your dome lights were on, its hard to see anything pulling an amp just because a door was open. have you started pulling fuses to see what circuit is causing the drain? I'd also wait like 10 minutes after you shut the car down so all the electronics have time to "shut down for the night" so to speak.

You are right. Forgot about the hood. So door latches are good.

So lost on this. I hooked up the multimeter first it read 1.0-1.1amp then drops down to .2 within 10 seconds or so.

thats not a huge drain...have you tried going to autozone and having them load test the battery and the alternator?

yeah , 1.0 amp shouldn't completely drain the battery over night

absolutely not. 8 or 10 hours draining 1 amp should leave you like 80 amp hours left depending on the battery you have, and that should be plenty for the car to start. the vacuum sound coming from the car is interesting. only thing i can think on the car that could sound like that is the SAI pump. Can you sneak up on the audi while she is sleeping and catch a video of it? An Audi in its natural habitat......might shed some answers

Last wednesday night was the day it drained my battery completely. I have no idea why. Since then I replaced the battery and finally tested it out this morning and it starts out at 1amp then drops down to .2 or below shortly after. I m assuming the car went into sleep mode. And never heard any noise coming from my car. I don't know what my wife heard when she said she heard "vacuuming" noise. However that Wednesday when I drove home it was raining a lot and there was a lot of water every where. Hopefully it didn't short any electronics.

I left the car alone for 10 hours today and dropped .3 volt. Hopefully it won't drain my battery again.

Yeah that's normal voltage drop. I would guess that water got in/around the SAI pump and had shorted it out causing it to run all night (hence the vacuum cleaner noise). I cant really see that draining the battery down to almost 0, but you never know. it could always be worth pulling the plug and checking the plug for condensation. you could spray it with electronics cleaner and make sure the seal in the plug is good (if it has one). It could literally be a number of different things and will be really hard to track down unless it is actively doing it. Just trying to throw my .02 out there. good luck!
