    Exclamation Heavy Steering Issue

    Hey Folks,

So I recently took a longer trip, about 1000miles and My car preformed great. After it sat for about 2 days, I noticed that my steering felt very heavy regardless of the speed traveled. All of the tires are at the proper pressure and everything was fine before. Nothing seems to be leaking

    Any suggestions would be great.

I'm not being a dick, but did you check your power steering fluid? I swear I've seen someone ask on the same thing but I can't remember what it was. I'll search.

I'll take a look when I get back from work, but it was just odd that it went from smooth sailing to feeling heavy.

There's a similar thread in the tech section. I only know because I replied with an issue I experienced with my steering. For me, it wasn't the power steering, but the intermediate steering shaft. Obviously the PS was my first suspect.

I've always gotten a pretty pronounced groan when low on power steering fluid.

Hmmmm, any crack or pop sound at all? Just silence and hard to steer?
    Did it throw any codes?

Another thing that I have to check when I get off work, code wise, but yes just silence and hard to steer. I do want to say that its very much drivable, just stiffer then normal.

That's what I was thinking when I was reading other threads, anyone know how to easily check this and fix if possible?

I'd first scan for codes. Free at any PepBoys or Autozone. You could also just try pulling the relay and see if anything changes and/or test it with a multi meter.

My steering felt really heavy until I changed from 17s to 19s.

Check the Servotronic PS fuse. People use to pull them on B7s to make the steering feel heavier. That's the first thing I'd check as it would explain the instant change.
