Help!! Stripped wheels lugs, what now?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I stripped some bolts when trying to swap off my summer wheels to my winter wheel setup. The wheels I am switching to have spacers and I just noticed there are longer bolts for the rear than the fronts (duh). So now this piece is screwed up, what am going to have to do to remedy this since the whole piece on the car seems to be stripped and replaced?

I tried using fresh bolts but stripped more.

That blows. You could try chasing the threads but if that doesn't help I'd replace the hub.

use a tap - i have stripped the bolts and the hub on a lot of cars a tap has always worked well, any tire shop will have them

If a tap doesn't work you'll need to replace the hub as others have said. We have them below.

You can get the OEM (Febi) wheel hub/bearing assemblies for ~$120 each, just search the part no. online.

I was able to repair the threads with a tap as some of you have suggested, thank goodness!

It is also good to know there are some other low cost alternatives out there (and that others have done this before), should one need to replace their hub!

    Thanks guys!

Btw there is a lug stick in your tool box by the spare.
Easier to to get a few more unless you use a jack and do one wheel at time.

Also suggest a torque wrench to tighten the lugs when finished, but that's just me and my anal ways.
If you really want to go all out they have Teflon coated sockets for cheap ( like $8-10) so you don't bugger up the rim.
