    Thought I had a good day at the wreckers...until

    Thought I scored a new alarm for my trunk and a Aux coolant pump from a V6 Passat to keep the heat up at idle in the 1.8t.

    Got home to test everything...

    Aux coolant pump is dead, opened it up and cleaned it out....still dead.

    Then I installed the new alarm unit and after about 5 seconds the alarm starts going off....then stops ...then goes off...

    So I cracked it open....yeah, FUBAR.





    I did also grab a DV out of a 2004 A4.

    I know to look for the 710 N as the preferred revision... but what about the 710 P?? P is further down the alphabet so is it a newer revision than the N ??

    When you get lemons...

    Use them to clean that alkaline corrosion off the circuit board. Then install a remote battery pack: Alarm Beep Stop Working DIY.

    Nah, p is older. It's what came stock on the b6s. The N is a better valve and it's all that is made nowadays.

    Thanks, I will keep it as a interim backup in case my N ever craps out.
