So as many of you know, I have installed a full B8.5 3.0T AWE Touring Exhaust + non-res downpipes to my B8 4.2 S5.
Many said it could not be done, including a few folks from AWE because
1. The length of the B8.5 exhaust is slightly shorter than the B8. Solution: local garage custom fabbed a 3" extension and now it fits perfectly. The extension was made between the DPs and the exhaust and it's all clamped together so no changes to the original AWE parts were ever needed. (Forgot to take pics while my car was up on the lift so you'll have to take my word for it for now)
-And-
2. I was told that the 102mm tips would definitely not fit on the B8 valance. Some worried that the tips would rest on the edges of the valance and eventually melt the plastic when the exhaust was hot. The tips don't even touch the valance as you can see. The closest it ever gets is about a quarter inch from the edge of the valance.
Well, here's how it looks: I considered switching to the 90mm tips but I actually kind of like it how it is now.
What does everyone else think? I have an option to pick up a used set of 90mm AWE tips but I might just keep the 102s and save the money.
