    Proof that the B8.5 AWE Touring Exhaust w/ 102MM Tips Fits on a B8 4.2L S5

So as many of you know, I have installed a full B8.5 3.0T AWE Touring Exhaust + non-res downpipes to my B8 4.2 S5.

Many said it could not be done, including a few folks from AWE because

    1. The length of the B8.5 exhaust is slightly shorter than the B8. Solution: local garage custom fabbed a 3" extension and now it fits perfectly. The extension was made between the DPs and the exhaust and it's all clamped together so no changes to the original AWE parts were ever needed. (Forgot to take pics while my car was up on the lift so you'll have to take my word for it for now)

    -And-

    2. I was told that the 102mm tips would definitely not fit on the B8 valance. Some worried that the tips would rest on the edges of the valance and eventually melt the plastic when the exhaust was hot. The tips don't even touch the valance as you can see. The closest it ever gets is about a quarter inch from the edge of the valance.

Well, here's how it looks: I considered switching to the 90mm tips but I actually kind of like it how it is now.

What does everyone else think? I have an option to pick up a used set of 90mm AWE tips but I might just keep the 102s and save the money.

I'm confused about this tittle. You state it fits but you custom fabricated a 3" extention. So that means when you purchase this exhaust for a B8 4.2L s5 it will not fit and will require a custom mod for it to fit. Wouldn't any exhaust fit if some sort of custom modifications took place?. Not trying to bash on you. Thing looks sick af. I love the tip width. Looks so aggressive. They should make options for larger tip widths

True, a tiny bit of custom work was needed but no intrusive mods to either the DPs or AWE touring exhaust took place. I could take them both off the car right now and they would still fit any B8.5 S5 on the street.

All I needed to get them to fit was a totally separate 3" pipe extension that connects the DPs to the rest of the exhaust using clamps. This is necessary since the B8.5 exhaust is shorter than the 4.2L S5 exhaust.

The stock setup uses sleeve clamps to connect the DPs to the exhaust. My solution replaced the sleeve clamps and uses the extension pieces instead.

Here's how it works: DPs -> 3" long pipe extensions -> rest of exhaust. The arrows can represent clamps in this situation.

So definitely keep the 102s and not opt for the 90mm tips?

Looks great. I often think a good S exhaust looks far better than the stupid fake RS ovals. How's the sound?

I think this is the only way to describe the sound:

Ya keep the 102s. I personally think these cars are big enough that the bigger tips don't look out of place.
