Purchased a used 2006 A6 3.2L Quattro last week and have been enjoying it ever since. I still cannot believe how smooth it drives. I def find myself more than willing to run errands these days..

I just have a random question about the vehicle.

Upon a cold start, it seems to hesitate to turn over right away. It's nothing dramatically long but just long enough to think something may be wrong and then, boom it starts. Once the engine is warm, no hesitation at the start whatsoever. I took it to the dealer and he said the battery may just need a "long drive" to get charged up after sitting on the lot for a month without much moving. They hooked it up and checked the electrical system and battery and found no issues. Anyone have a similar issue? It has 76k miles and I'm the 3rd owner.

I never actually thought that I'd be driving such quality but I am and very excited about my new ownership.

A carbon cleaning would help. Also listen for the fuel pump to prime when you open the drivers door.

How much does a carbon cleanup usually cost....? Do you recommend going to the dealer or seeking out an indie shop?

I have a 2007 and did it a little over 2 years ago when I hit 100k miles, was 8 hours of labor by the dealer as I couldn't find an indie shop locally that would do it. So if you know what your dealers hourly rate is there you go. Wasn't cheap but I noticed significant improvements after it was done, throttle response, mpg and start up were all improved.
