    Cold start whine?

When I start it up cold I hear a whine/squeal, if I turn it off within a few seconds it sometimes continuers the noise for a second or two. I think I've isolated it to the fan on the passenger side. Any tips before replacement?

It's your secondary air injector, on the passenger side. The bearing gets worn because the rivets break on the outside. It's not that imperative to replace, and is extremely expensive OEM. Kinda sucks, so I've left mine be for years with no problems

Someone else said that and directed me to a link. It doesn't really sound like that from the Youtube video I watched.

To diagnose it can you put your hand by it and feel air coming off of it?

If it is, can't I just get one off someone parting out their car instead of buying new?

Hard to truly capture the sound in an online video. I agree it sounds like SAI pump. Do you have a tune or are you getting one? It can be coded out and you can remove it all together. Search around, there is also a fix that involves replacing the rivets with screws. May be a while before you actually get a CEL.

I bought the car and it supposedly has a stage 1 tune. It'll be hard to see a CEL since the DIC(message center) is burnt out.

Pretty sure the CEL light is a normal light on the dash, it's a requirement or something. If you look for it when you turn the key over it should pop up.

Your right. It should pop up next to the ABS light that's been on since I bought it.
