About that time and Audi brakes lasted a long time. Anyone have any experience with Vaico pads?

UPDATE: Between the OE (Pagent) and Textar, I recommend Pagent. I found that since the weather has changed for the warmer the Textars seem to lack the continuous bite that I was used to. They are not bad though.

No, but generally, Textar or TRW are better....

And here they are. They look of good quality. The box is stamped made in Germany. Textar looks to be owned by a Japanese automotive holding company, Nissinbo no less. The construction seems top notch; there's a decent amount of copper in the friction compound and the brake wear indicator wires are in a vinyl and cloth insulation. Haven't mounted them, but they're supposed to not squeal and create as much dust as some German OE pads. Feel, performance and wear is supposed to better as well. Don't they all say that...we'll see after this weekend.

Is this the regular Textar (non ceramic)? Please update on how dusty (or less) comparing with stock pads. I went with Akebono ceramic last time - virtually no dust and happy about it, but thinking to change to Textar (non ceramic) or Textar epad (ceramic) next time around.

Just to update on the Textar pads I recently mounted.

They aren't ceramic they are semi metallic.

If you live in the snow belt; once you get below 10 degrees you may notice an initial squeak sometimes when pulling out of your road, but that's it.

Stopping seems almost identical to the OE and pageant, but just a very tiny less of that soft bite at various speeds to me.

There did appear to be slightly less dust. However, there definitely is dust and seems only slightly lighter. It shouldn't be a major deal make or breaker with these pads. I've given up on worrying about keeping my a4 immaculate since moving to Chicago land from South Florida. All that went out the door with the weather and shitt roads - the shittiest major roads and hwys I've traveled in all of America....Detroit doesn't count. Lowered sport suspension is pointless and un-enjoyable. Sometimes I get a sense the people here are duped into believing this is how they're supposed to live...especially with the high taxes paid and the lack of voter give a shitt.

    Excuse the rant.

Price wise, they're a couple dollars below the Pageants. The Textars have great construction and no clunks and only an initial squeal at very low temps and gone. I'm satisfied and would buy again, but if you don't mind the dark break dust coating your wheels then go with the Pageants. Keep your cars healthy!

    what rotors or didn't replace?

I wont buy anything Viaco. Replaced my accessory idler pully with a viaco and bearing was shit and caused tensioner to wobble. Replaced tensioner, belt and finally realized it was new idler pulley. Put old one back on and no more wobble.

I am starting to lean toward Blauparts rotor and pad kit.

Audi rotors, still have life on them.

I should be fair in stating that my dial test showed a small amount of surface variance on one rotor. That most likely contributed to the short squeak upon initial braking after start up and only infrequently happening in extremely cold weather.

I bought a Vaico PCV valve and it lasted only 11 months. I got some valuable advice when I posted about it in this thread:
