it is not a bearing . it is a plastic piece that the glove box latch stayed in when closed

haha yeah it definitely isn't the traditional ball bearing, but it looks like it sits between the glovebox housing and the glovebox door, probably doing something similar to what ball bearings do with harder materials like metal.
