    Rear sway bar

    Getting conflicting information.

I want to go to a bigger rear sway bar in my B6 Avant (sport suspension) and thought the B7 RS4 rear bar would be good. Is it a direct swap? Need new links?

    Cheers.

Good upgrade. Direct swap. Bushings and clamps are different from your stock bar. End links are the same (if old they should be replaced). It's what I'm running on my avant.

Great. Thank you so much for that quick clarification. Searching vendors confused me too with the different part numbers for a B6 S4 and B7 S4 (compare fitment shapes).
I'll be ordering one up then. Thank you again!

I think the rs 4 swaybar is probably the best mod interms of ease of installation, cost and noticable benefit. The difference is quite noticible.

X2 the rs4 sway bar makes a big difference but without the 4:1 center diff mod leaves something to be desired as the understeer is still there. The 034 sway bar is solid construction as opposed to the rs4's hollow construction. The 034 bar is also adjustable. I had the rs4 bar and have now upgraded to the 034 bar.

Thanks for the input. The Avant is my daily driver and I really enjoy how smooth it is. I'm just looking for an upgrade, not a race car. ;)
I'd like to keep the independent suspension working. Audi designed the suspension to do it's job very well and don't really want to mess with it too much.
I had added a rear bar to my 85 GLH a few years back and it was beautiful. I am hoping, from what you guys attest to, that the effect will be the same. The less weight of the hollow bar is better too as the car is quite the pig already.

    Thanks again folks!

B7 RS4 bars are a huge upgrade over the factory non-sports!

and this thread has ran out of gas. I just wanted to tell people about my experience I had 2 nights ago and felt like sharing it with my fellow B6'ers. And I thank the people who didn't hate."

+1 for 034 but anything at this point would be an upgrade.

    This.

I love my 034 bar and given the price relative to the RS4 bar I would go 034 all day every day. Plus it comes with urethane bushings and billet brackets rather than the squishy oem rubber ones.

Also, top tip, B7 S4s came with the same 22mm bar as the RS4. Only the b6 s4s came with the 20mm bar.

And for those complaining about the weight, swaybars sit 10" off the ground, pretty sure an extra lb or two that low down will make zero difference in handling. But the extra stiffness will definitely make a noticeable difference.

The 034 is the way to go, on my stock sedan it feels like normal till you enter a turn then it feels so much more planted.

I can't imagine the size a rear sway bar would have to be to make an independent rear suspension feel like a live rear axle or the like
